Background: The objective of this study was to compare the effects of daily consumption of white potatoes compared with white rice on cardiometabolic health in individuals with type-2 diabetes (T2D).
Objective: To determine the effects of white potato consumption compared to white rice (a commonly consumed refined grain) on indices of glycemic control and cardiovascular health in individuals with overweight or obesity and T2D.
Methods: In this randomized crossover study, comparative control trial, 24 adults with T2D [45-80 y, body mass index (kg/m) 25-40] consumed baked white potatoes (100 g) or calorie-matched white rice (75 g) daily for 12 wk, separated by a 2-wk washout, with assessments of glycemic control, lipids, inflammation, blood pressure, endothelial function, and body composition at baseline (only 1 baseline visit included as a covariate in statistical analyses), 6 wk, and 12 wk.

Insulin therapy remains a cornerstone in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), especially in patients experiencing progressive loss of pancreatic beta-cell function or those with inadequate glycemic control despite oral antidiabetic therapy. This review synthesized clinical outcomes from 44 peer-reviewed case reports published between 2019 and 2024, identified through systematic searches in PubMed and Scopus. The included cases involved 15 males and 29 females, with patient ages ranging from 11 to 91 years (mean 53 ± 20.

Background: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is a rising health issue linked to poor diet and gut microbiota dysbiosis. The Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) diet, high in polyphenols and anti-inflammatory nutrients, may help protect against MASLD. This study examined how adherence to the MIND diet relates to MASLD severity, focusing on hepatic steatosis, fibrosis, insulin resistance, inflammation, and gut microbiota diversity.

Introduction: Cigarette smoking is a well-recognized independent risk factor for numerous cardiovascular disorders and contributes to the increasing morbidity and mortality associated with chronic heart diseases (CHD). This study aimed to evaluate how cigarette smoking affects lipid metabolism and inflammatory processes, along with other related mechanisms, in order to better understand the potential cardiovascular risks faced by smokers.
Objectives: To evaluate and compare the serum lipid profile and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels between cigarette smokers and non-smokers.

Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of intravenous omadacycline compared to intravenous tigecycline in patients with severe pneumonia caused by carbapenem-resistant gram-negative bacilli (CRGNB), and to explore the factors influencing 28-day all-cause mortality.
Methods: Our retrospective analysis was conducted on adult patients with CRGNB-associated severe pneumonia who received intravenous omadacycline or tigecycline for at least 72 hours in the intensive care unit (ICU) between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2025. The primary outcome was 28-day all-cause mortality, while secondary endpoints included clinical efficacy and microbiological clearance rates.
