Schizophrenia involves abnormal fronto-occipital interactions linked to hallucinations and cognitive impairments, but the neural mechanisms remain unclear. This work aims to provide an overview of the relationship between fronto-occipital dysfunction and symptoms using simultaneous EEG-fMRI data in schizophrenia. We measured the brain's functional separation and quantified bidirectional information transfer changes between the frontal and occipital regions. A pronounced elevation in correlation within the frontal lobe, accompanied by a marked reduction in the occipital lobe, was observed between gradient eccentricities and theta-power of forward waves. Moreover, the relationship between forward waves and gradient eccentricities in the ventrolateral prefrontal cortex may be shaped by positive symptoms, while the influence of negative symptoms appears to modulate the relationship between backward waves and gradient eccentricities in the insula. The MOR and CB neurotransmitters predominantly contributed to associations between eccentricities and traveling waves. Symptoms promote the dysregulation of hierarchical separation and information transmission in schizophrenia.

Human vision deals with two major limitations. First, vision is strongly foveated and deteriorates with eccentricity. Second, visual attention selectively prioritizes some stimuli over others.

A charge qubit couples to environmental electric field fluctuations through its dipole moment, resulting in fast decoherence. We propose the p-orbital (pO) qubit, formed by the single-electron, p-like valence states of a five-electron Si quantum dot, which couples to charge noise through the quadrupole moment. We demonstrate that the pO qubit offers distinct advantages in quality factor, gate speed, readout, and size.

Introduction: Kartagener's syndrome is a rare subset of primary ciliary dyskinesia, a genetically heterogeneous disorder characterised by chronic sinusitis, bronchiectasis, and . To our knowledge, the association of this syndrome with coarctation of the aorta (CoAo) and pulmonary hypertension (PH) has not been previously reported.
Case Description: We report the case of a 17-year-old female patient with and CoAo surgically corrected at two months of age.

Redo valve-in-valve transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) confronts anesthesiologists with compounded hemodynamic and neurologic risk. We managed an 85-year-old male with severe mixed prosthetic aortic dysfunction whose pre-procedural transthoracic echocardiogram showed a peak velocity of 3.7 m/s⁻¹, a mean gradient of 24 mm Hg, an effective orifice area of 0.

The Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) is a major driver of global ocean circulation and climate. To better understand the interplay between long-term atmospheric and ocean variability in the Southern Ocean since the late Miocene, we present sea surface temperature (SST) and carbonate preservation records from the Subantarctic Eastern South Pacific (IODP Site U1543), along with an extended ACC strength record from Central South Pacific Site U1541. We focus on long-term eccentricity-scale variations showing decreased (increased) SST with enhanced (reduced) CaCO preservation, and stronger (weaker) ACC strength, particularly during the Pliocene.
