Neuronal networks in animal brains are considered to realize specific filter functions through the precise configuration of synaptic weights, which are autonomously regulated without external supervision. In this study, we employ a single Hodgkin-Huxley-type neuron with autapses as a minimum model to computationally investigate how spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP) adjusts synaptic weights through recurrent feedback. The results show that the weights undergo oscillatory potentiation or depression with respect to autaptic delay and high-frequency stimulation.

Introduction: Understanding how neural networks process complex patterns of information is crucial for advancing both neuroscience and artificial intelligence. To investigate fundamental principles of neural computation, we examined whether dissociated neuronal cultures, one of the most primitive living neural networks, exhibit regularity sensitivity beyond mere stimulus-specific adaptation and deviance detection.
Methods: We recorded activity to oddball electrical stimulation paradigms from dissociated rat cortical neurons cultured on high-resolution CMOS microelectrode arrays.

Bipolar disorder (BD) is a debilitating mental illness characterized by significant mood swings, posing a substantial challenge for accurate diagnosis due to its clinical complexity. This paper presents CS2former, a novel approach leveraging a dual channel-spatial feature extraction module within a Transformer model to diagnose BD from resting-state functional MRI (Rs-fMRI) and T1-weighted MRI (T1w-MRI) data. CS2former employs a Channel-2D Spatial Feature Aggregation Module to decouple channel and spatial information from Rs-fMRI, while a Channel-3D Spatial Attention Module with Synchronized Attention Module (SAM) concurrently computes attention for T1w-MRI feature maps.

Introduction: Wave speed (WS) mapping, enabled by omnipolar technology, allows for real-time visualization of local conduction velocity (CV). Its utility in ventricular tachycardia (VT) ablation has not been fully characterized.
Methods And Results: We describe a case series of patients undergoing VT ablation in which WS mapping was applied alongside established techniques such as peak frequency (PF) mapping and isochronal late activation mapping (ILAM).

While most sudden cardiac deaths are due to structural heart disease or cardiac ischemia, intoxications are rather rare and often unrecognized. Here we present a case of a 35-year-old patient who trickled cumulative 60 mg of the pure nicotine liquid. This led to cardiac arrest and ventricular fibrillation.
