Background: Phrenic nerve injury during mediastinal tumor resection can lead to significant postoperative diaphragmatic dysfunction. Current intraoperative protection techniques are imprecise and lack real-time feedback. We aimed to develop and validate a quantifiable, multimodal neuroprotective strategy.

Background: While pegylated Escherichia coli asparaginase (PEG) is an integral component of leukemia and lymphoma treatment, hypersensitivity reactions (HSR) remain a common adverse event, often resulting in adjustments to the treatment regimen, increasing the burden on patients and families. HSR to asparaginase often indicates a transition to Erwinia asparaginase (ERW), which requires patients to return to the hospital 6 times for subcutaneous injections to replace one dose of IV PEG. Previous trials have demonstrated rates of HSR to pegylated E.

Ionic liquids (ILs) are a class of organic salts with melting points below 100°C. Owing to their unique chemical and physical properties, they are used as solvents and catalysts in various chemical transformations, progressively replacing common volatile organic solvents (VOCs) in green synthetic applications. However, their intrinsic ionic nature can restrict the use of mass spectrometric techniques to monitor the time progress of a reaction occurring in an IL medium, thus preventing one from following the formation of the reaction products or intercepting the reaction intermediates.

Objective: The incidence of total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) in the United States continues to climb as an aging yet active population increases demand for the procedure. Due to promising clinical results out of Europe, improvement in prosthesis design, and wider acceptance of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (rTSA), this study was designed to evaluate how rTSA and anatomical TSA (aTSA) utilization, patient selection, and length of stay have changed at a single institution.
Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study of patients from one hospital system between 2017 and 2023.

Aims: Cardiogenic shock remains a significant cause of mortality despite multiple advancements in medical interventions. Veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) provides crucial circulatory support but also increases left ventricular (LV) after-load, potentially worsening outcomes. Effective LV unloading strategies can enhance patient survival during VA-ECMO treatment.
