Introduction/objective: Oral glucocorticoids (OGC) are conventionally used as first-line treatment for dermatomyositis (DM) and polymyositis (PM). This study evaluated clinical and economic outcomes associated with long-term (LT) OGC use in DM/PM.
Methods: Adults with ≥ 2 medical claims of DM/PM 30‒365 days apart from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2022, and ≥ 1 diagnosis code of a physician specialty of interest were selected from the MarketScan Commercial and Medicare Supplemental databases.

The global shortage of suitable donor kidneys is the primary challenge in kidney transplantation, and it is exacerbated by ageing donors with increased numbers of health issues. Improving organ assessment, preservation and conditioning could enhance organ utilization and patient outcomes. Hypothermic machine perfusion (HMP) is associated with better results than static cold storage by reducing delayed graft function and improving short-term graft survival, especially in kidneys recovered from marginal-quality donors.

In temperate regions, respiratory viruses such as SARS-CoV-2 are better transmitted in winter than in summer. Understanding how the weather is associated with SARS-CoV-2 transmissibility can enhance projections of COVID-19 incidence and improve estimation of the effectiveness of control measures. New implantable and wearable devices hold great promise to help patients manage their seizure disorders. One proposed application is measuring the rate of interictal epileptiform discharges as a biomarker of medication levels and seizure risk. This study aims to determine whether interictal epileptiform spike rates (spikes) are independently associated with anti-seizure medication (ASM) levels and evaluate whether spike rates are a reliable biomarker for ASM levels.

Background: The duration of untreated psychosis (DUP) is a critical factor influencing long-term outcome in schizophrenia (SCZ). Its short-term effects during early treatment remain less well characterized.
Methods: We enrolled 300 drug-naïve SCZ patients, of whom 78 completed a 12-week evaluation with comprehensive clinical and functional assessments.
