An investigation of the mtDNA haplogroup in 96 Taiwanese women with diminished ovarian response (DOR) and normal ovarian response (NOR) showed that only the haplogroup R is less likely to experience DOR than other mtDNA haplogroups. When analyzing the relationship between age and mitochondria-related markers (mtDNA copy number, ROS levels, and telomere length), it was observed that ROS levels and telomere length exhibited age-dependent changes, and the number of retrieved oocytes decreased with age. However, in the R haplogroup, these mitochondria-related markers remained stable and did not show significant changes with age. Additionally, in the R haplogroup, the number of oocytes did not decline with age, suggesting a unique protective effect associated with this haplogroup. Our study supports the notion that the mtDNA haplogroup may serve as a biomarker for infertility in Taiwanese women.

The study aimed to determine whether confinement with TMR during the first 21 DIM, followed by grazing supplemented with partial mixed ration (PMR), alleviates negative energy balance, enhancing productive performance and accelerating the resumption of ovarian cyclicity in primiparous and multiparous dairy cows, relative to a control group managed on grazing supplemented with PMR after calving. Following calving, 16 primiparous and 24 multiparous Holstein dairy cows were blocked and randomly distributed into 2 treatments: one included grazing plus supplementation with PMR after calving (T0), while the other one involved confinement with TMR ad libitum during the first 21 DIM and the same feeding management of T0 from d 22 onwards until 60 DIM (T21). Primiparous cows showed no significant differences between treatments in milk production.

The management of assisted reproductive technology (ART) in predicted hyper-responders to ovarian stimulation represents a complex and challenging clinical scenario, whereby the benefits of higher oocyte yield must be balanced against the drawbacks and risks of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. This review explores advances in ART for hyper-responders, focusing on adapted stimulation protocols, ovulation triggering, cryopreservation, and personalized strategies to optimize outcomes. In-vitro maturation of oocytes, an emerging alternative, is gaining traction for increasing live birth rates in selected cases and expert centers.

Background: Despite growing interest in women's physiology in exercise sciences, the understanding of female athletes' energy metabolism remains limited. This study aimed to analyze substrate oxidation in response to energetic stimuli in female athletes using or not hormonal contraceptives, and to determine the influence of the estradiol-to-progesterone ratio fluctuations on energy metabolism.
Methods: Body composition (dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry), energy expenditure and substrate oxidation rates (resting, low-intensity walking exercise (4 km/h), and postprandial conditions; indirect calorimetry) were assessed among 32 athletes (23±3 years) during a high-training load period, in athletes using or not hormonal contraceptives (nine and 23, respectively).

Following the publication of this paper, for the western blots shown in Fig. 1A, where the expression levels of salt‑inducible kinase 1 were detected in ovarian cancer tissues, it was drawn to the Editor's attention by a concerned reader that the β‑actin loading controls for patients 4, 6 and 7 were strikingly similar in appearance. Moreover, several of the protein bands in this figure were strikingly similar to data which subsequently appeared in another paper written by different authors at different research institutes that was published in the journal , although this paper has since been retracted.
