Purpose: To analyze the distribution of pathogens and drug resistance in children with urinary tract infections (UTIs) in a single center in Xiamen and to guide the selection of empirical antibiotics in the clinic.

Methods: Clinical data of 2001 children with UTIs in Xiamen Children's Hospital between 2014 and 2022 were retrospectively analyzed, grouped by age and comorbidities. Differences in pathogen distribution and drug sensitivity were compared with the chi-square test applied and significance set at p < 0.

Background: Ceftobiprole was approved by the United States (US) Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2024 and by the European Medicines Agency in 2013 for the treatment of pneumonia, bacterial skin and skin structure infections, and Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections. Numerous methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) lineages have been identified with unique assemblages of resistance determinants and virulence factors.

Organism profiles and empirical treatments for periprosthetic joint infections.

J Orthop Surg Res

Division of Sports Medicine and Adult Reconstructive Surgery, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Affiliated Hospital of Medical School, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, Nanjing University, 321 Zhongshan Road, Nanjing, Jiangsu, 210008, PR China.

Objective: Information on pathogens and sensitive antibiotics is crucial for treating periprosthetic joint infection (PJI), one of the most severe complications of joint arthroplasty. Lacking this information is not uncommon, and empirical antibiotic treatment should be adopted as a compromise. This study aimed to develop regional-specific antimicrobial regimens and provide a reference for empirical antibiotic treatment for PJI by retrospectively analyzing the pathogen profiles of PJI patients treated in our center and their antibiotic sensitivities.

Background: The aim was to comprehensively explore the distribution of pathogenic bacteria and antimicrobial susceptibility in the breast puncture fluid of the patients with non-lactation granulomatous mastitis to optimize treatment programs.

Methods: Fifteen strains of pathogenic bacteria isolated from the breast puncture fluid of the patients with non-lactation granulomatous mastitis were collected in the breast department, Beijing Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Capital Medical University from March 2023 to October 2023. Matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) and 16S rRNA sequencing were used to bacterial identi-fication.

Objective: Augmented renal clearance (ARC), defined as rapid drug clearance, can lead to subtherapeutic antimicrobial concentrations in specific patient populations. This scoping review aimed to synthesize current evidence on ARC in adult patients receiving antimicrobial treatment, focusing on its prevalence, risk factors, and influence on attaining therapeutic drug levels. It also identified gaps for future research and provided dosage recommendations.
