Facial Aesthetics Enhancement (FAE) aims to improve facial attractiveness by adjusting the structure and appearance of a facial image while preserving its identity as much as possible. Most existing methods adopted deep feature-based or score-based guidance for generation models to conduct FAE. Although these methods achieved promising results, they potentially produced excessively beautified results with lower identity consistency or insufficiently improved facial attractiveness. To enhance facial aesthetics with less loss of identity, we propose the Nearest Neighbor Structure Guidance based on Diffusion (NNSG-Diffusion), a diffusion-based FAE method that beautifies a 2D facial image with 3D structure guidance. Specifically, we propose to extract FAE guidance from a nearest neighbor reference face. To allow for less change of facial structures in the FAE process, a 3D face model is recovered by referring to both the matched 2D reference face and the 2D input face, so that the depth and contour guidance can be extracted from the 3D face model. Then the depth and contour clues can provide effective guidance to Stable Diffusion with ControlNet for FAE. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our method is superior to previous relevant methods in enhancing facial aesthetics while preserving facial identity.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly reshaping cosmetic surgery by enhancing surgical planning, predicting outcomes, and enabling objective aesthetic assessment. Through narrative synthesis of existing literature and case studies, this perspective paper explores the issue of algorithmic bias in AI-powered aesthetic technologies and presents a framework for culturally sensitive application within cosmetic surgery practices in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Existing AI systems are predominantly trained on datasets that underrepresent MENA phenotypes, resulting in aesthetic recommendations that disproportionately reflect Western beauty ideals.

Objectives: Post-acne erythema (PAE), a common consequence of acne, is characterized by capillary dilation and erythema, which significantly impact facial aesthetics and quality of life. This study aims to evaluate and compare the efficacy and safety of intense pulsed light (DPL) and 1064 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser in treating PAE.
Methods: This prospective, randomized, self-controlled, evaluator-blinded clinical trial compared DPL and 1064 nm Q-switched Nd:YAG laser treatments on one side of the face, with biweekly sessions for 6 weeks.

Dermal fillers have gained increasing popularity for their ability to enhance facial symmetry, restore volume, and improve skin texture. However, their use in patients with cancer undergoing active chemotherapy and radiation therapy poses unique challenges, as these treatments can alter both the safety profile and efficacy of filler procedures. Chemotherapy can interfere with normal wound healing and immune responses, warranting a more cautious and individualized approach when considering dermal fillers in this population.

Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) have gained prominence for their efficacy in treating type 2 diabetes and obesity. Recent evidence suggests that their pleiotropic effects-beyond glycemic control and weight loss-include anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, and antioxidative effects, which may beneficially support various dermatologic conditions such as psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, acanthosis nigricans, and Hailey-Hailey disease. However, GLP-1 RAs are also associated with emerging cutaneous adverse drug reactions, including bullous, exanthematous and vasculitic manifestations, and other rare side effects.
