Lung cancer screening implementation has led to expanded imaging of the chest in older, tobacco-exposed populations. Growing numbers of screening cases are also found to have CT-detectable emphysema or elevated levels of coronary calcium, indicating the presence of coronary artery disease. Early interventions based on these additional findings, especially with coronary calcium, are emerging and follow established protocols. Given the pace of diagnostic innovation and the potential public health impact, it is timely to review issues in developing useful chest CT screening infrastructure as chest CT screening will soon involve millions of participants worldwide. Lung cancer screening succeeds because it detects curable, early primary lung cancer by characterizing and measuring changes in non-calcified, lung nodules in the size-range from 3mm to 15 mm in diameter. Therefore, close attention to imaging methodology is essential to lung screening success and similar image quality issues are required for reliable quantitative characterization of early emphysema and coronary artery disease. Today's emergence of advanced image analysis using artificial intelligence (AI) is disrupting many aspects of medical imaging including chest CT screening. Given these emerging technological and volume trends, a major concern is how to balance the diverse needs of parties committed to building AI tools for precise, reproducible, and economical chest CT screening, while addressing the public health needs of screening participants receiving this service. A new consortium, the Alliance for Global Implementation of Lung and Cardiac Early Disease Detection and Treatment (AGILE) is committed to facilitate broad, equitable implementation of multi-disciplinary, high quality chest CT screening using advanced computational tools at accessible cost.

Objectives: to develop a mobile application prototype using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to predict and support the diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis in children - TB Kids.
Methods: technological development research of the prototyping type, based on the Rational Unified Process model and its four stages: conception, elaboration, construction and transition. The development of the TB Kids prototype took place from November 2022 to July 2023.

Population-wide screening may accelerate the decline of tuberculosis (TB) incidence, but the optimal screening algorithm and duration must weigh resource considerations. We calibrated a deterministic transmission model to TB epidemiology in Viet Nam. We simulated three population-wide screening algorithms from 2025: sputum nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT, Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra) only; chest radiography (CXR) followed by NAAT; and CXR-only without microbiological confirmation.

Low dose computed tomography (LDCT) imaging obtained for other clinical indications is useful for the opportunistic screening of osteoporosis and demonstrates additional potential for the screening of metabolic risk through the measurement of visceral adipose tissue. In this study, we explored LDCT-derived VAT and calculated VAT thresholds indicative of elevated metabolic risk in a population cohort of Chinese men and women.

Unlabelled: Concurrent presentation of pulmonary nocardiosis and granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) is exceptionally rare and diagnostically challenging, given the overlapping clinical and radiological features. We report a 54-year-old female with fever, cough, weight loss, and arthralgia. Chest imaging showed multiple pulmonary nodules; serology revealed positive anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies -proteinase 3, and lung biopsy demonstrated necrotizing granulomatous inflammation with Nocardia species.

Unlabelled: Anomalous origin of the coronary arteries is a rare congenital condition that can present as non-specific chest pain or shortness of breath or remain asymptomatic. Early identification is critical as certain variants are linked with a high risk of sudden cardiac death. Here, we report the case of a 53-year-old female with hypertension, hypothyroidism, obesity (class II) and a history of intermittent chest pain radiating to the left arm for two years.
