Internet gaming disorder (IGD) is a growing public health concern, with longitudinal studies linking it to a range of negative outcomes, including psychological distress and poor academic achievements. While the trauma model has been applied to other addictive behaviors, little is known about the relationship between childhood trauma, trauma-related symptoms, and IGD symptoms. This preliminary study investigated whether childhood betrayal trauma would have a stronger relationship with IGD symptoms than non-betrayal trauma and whether IGD symptoms would be associated with interpersonal stress and trauma-related symptoms. A regionally diverse, predominantly female sample of English-speaking young adults aged 18 to 24 ( = 283) completed validated standardized measures. We found that IGD symptoms were associated with childhood non-betrayal trauma (β = .225, < .001) and interpersonal stress (β = .214, < .001) but not with childhood betrayal trauma and post-traumatic and dissociative symptoms. While the results should be interpreted with caution because of the limitations of this study, it extends the application of the trauma model of addiction to the context of IGD. Our study underscores the universal importance of child protection and early interventions for childhood trauma survivors in the prevention of addictive behaviors.

Objective: Major depressive disorder (MDD) is among the most prevalent and debilitating mental health conditions worldwide. This study aims to investigate the bidirectional causal relationship between immune cells and MDD using Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis and determine whether metabolites mediate this relationship.
Methods: We compiled and analyzed whole-genome data for 731 immune cell traits, 1091 blood metabolites, 309 metabolic ratios, and disease data from 170,756 individuals with MDD and 329,443 controls.

Previous epidemiological research has shown that immune cells have a significant impact on the progression and development of psoriatic arthritis (PsA). However, the causal relationship between immune cell characteristics and PsA remains uncertain. A bidirectional 2-sample Mendelian randomization analysis was conducted, using data from publicly available genome-wide association studies.

Introduction: Existing diagnosis systems, such as DSM-5 and ICD-11, predominantly rely on a dichotomous approach, flat, cross-sectional definitions of Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) that fail to capture the persistent, evolving nature and may contribute to heterogeneity. Applying a clinical staging approach, we propose that IGD spans a continuum with early stages marked by euphoria from gaming and later stages by compulsive gaming. This study aimed to empirically identify distinct IGD stages.

Background: Subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT) has been a cornerstone treatment for allergic rhinitis (AR) for over 50 years, consistently demonstrating symptom reduction and modulation of immune responses. Despite this, the underlying mechanisms responsible for the efficacy of SCIT remain incompletely understood, especially with regard to local immune responses in lymph nodes and nasal mucosa.
Aim: To determine the impact of SCIT treatment on immunoglobulin production in blood and nasal mucosa, as well as B cell class-switching in blood and lymph nodes.
