Article Abstract

Detecting suppression is important for monitoring change in and determining surgical timing for intermittent exotropia. Here, we evaluate the results of a prospective, cross-sectional study of the "polarized glasses dissociation test" for detection of suppression. A positive result was defined as constant deviation of one eye at 6 m when viewing at distance with polarized glasses. The sensitivity of the test for suppression as assessed using a vectograph was 100%, specificity 95%, positive predictive value 97% and negative predictive value 100%. Due to its simplicity and accuracy, the polarized glasses dissociation test could be an alternative to other suppression tests and can be applied to a wide range of age groups.

Systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease (ILD) is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality in patients with diffuse systemic sclerosis. We present the case of a 47-year-old man with fibrotic non-specific interstitial pneumonia who experienced worsening hypoxemia and dyspnea following COVID-19, despite ongoing treatment with mycophenolate mofetil and prednisone. His oxygen requirement increased from 6-8 L/minute to 15 L/minute at rest, even as imaging showed stable fibrosis with improvement in ground-glass opacities, highlighting a clinical-radiographic dissociation.

Despite the remarkable power conversion efficiency (PCE) of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), their unsatisfactory operational stability and lead (Pb) leakage remain major obstacles to commercialization. Nevertheless, with the Pb precipitation mechanism remaining elusive, the community has long been under the impression that preventing Pb leakage mainly lies in the out-film encapsulation. Here, that in-film reinforcement is demonstrated through the synergy of built-in chemical sealing networks encapsulating and balanced compressive strain field plays a pivotal role in elevating the thermodynamic barrier for structural dissociation, thereby preventing Pb leakage from severely damaged devices exposed to external stimuli.

Accurate detection of biomolecular interactions is essential in many areas, from the detection of the presence of biomarkers in the clinic to the development of therapeutic drugs and biologics in biopharma to the understanding of various biological processes in basic research. Traditional endpoint approaches can suffer from false-negative results for biomolecular interactions with fast kinetics. By contrast, real-time detection techniques like surface plasmon resonance (SPR) monitor interactions as they form and disassemble, reducing the risk of false-negative results.

Targeting next-generation batteries, a multifunctional composite polymer electrolyte (CPE) was developed by integrating glass-fiber-cloth (GFC) with PEO-LiLaZrTaO (LLZTO). LLZTO improves thermal stability and ionic conductivity. GFC framework further reinforces mechanical strength and facilitates Li-ion dissociation, creating a Li-ion gradient.

Most covalent adaptable networks (CANs) based on citric acid (CA) exhibit low thermostability, low glass-transition temperatures (), and poor mechanical properties. Moreover, their slow relaxation rates necessitate prolonged reprocessing time, resulting in issues such as degradation or side-reactions. Herein, a bicyclic tetracarboxylate (DMTE) derived from CA was prepared.
