Background/aim: Endotracheal tube intubation is required for surgery under inhalation anesthesia. In the present study, after inhalation anesthesia in dogs, the tracheal tube was extubated without deflating the endotracheal tube cuff, resulting in thoracic tracheal rupture, subcutaneous emphysema, and pneumomediastinum. The ruptured thoracic trachea was reconstructed using an endotracheal stent to treat intrathoracic emphysema.

Background/objectives: Neonatal pain must be treated due to its potential short- and long-term adverse effects. A frenotomy is a painful procedure where common strategies to relieve pain (oral sucrose solutions and sucking) cannot be used because the technique is performed on the tongue. Lavender essential oil (LEO) is useful in treating pain during blood sampling, heel punctures, vaccination, and frenotomies.

Cigarette smoking is the leading preventable cause of death and disease. Prolonged and repeated inhalational exposure to the chemical toxicants found in cigarette smoke is a known cause of cardiovascular disease, chronic lung disease, and cancer. Novel nicotine products, including e‑cigarettes and tobacco‑free nicotine pouches, reduce exposure to toxicants among those who smoke and switch to their use, reducing the risk of smoking‑related disease.
