Article Abstract

Obesity due to excessive fat accumulation, affects health and quality of life and increases the risk of diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular conditions. Traditional causes, such as calorie excess and sedentary behavior, do not fully explain the obesity epidemic, leading to the hypothesis that endocrine-disrupting chemicals or obesogens contribute to obesity. The obesogenic mechanisms of representative obesogenic substances, such as bisphenols, have been discussed, mainly focusing on their interactions with estrogen receptors. Based on several studies showing that obesogens induce obesity by mimicking glucocorticoids, this review focused on the role of the glucocorticoid receptor pathway. In addition, the anti-obesogenic bioactive substances that have been studied to this date along with their inhibitory mechanisms were discussed.

Gynecologic and Breast Oncologic Surgery Department, European Hospital Georges Pompidou, APHP, Paris, France; Departement of environnemental toxicology, Université Paris Cité, INSERM UMR-S 1124, Paris.

Phthalates are endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) with implications in breast cancer (BC). This review synthesizes epidemiological and experimental data to evaluate the role of phthalates in BC initiation, progression, and therapeutic resistance. We performed a scoping review using bibliographic citations from PubMed, Clinical Trials.

Human activity has led to the increment of diverse pollutants. Plastics have great practical value since they are present in everyday products. However, not only plastics have gained importance, but their plasticizers such as bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates and other chemicals such as the polyaromatic hydrocarbon compounds (PAHs) have described to impact in human and animal health because of its chronic exposure and that they are endocrine disruptors (EDs).

Dimethyl phthalate (DMP) is widely used as a plasticizer in the plastics industry, posing a serious threat to environmental pollution and public health. In this work, CuFeO@AC was used as a coating to prepare a novel solid-phase microextraction (SPME) fiber. CuFeO@AC fiber exhibits a larger specific surface area and more active sites, significantly enhancing DMP enrichment efficiency.

Predicting binding affinities of liquid crystal monomers: An activity cliffs-driven multidimensional feature fusion model.

Ecotoxicol Environ Saf

Key Laboratory of Groundwater Resources and Environment, Ministry of Education, Jilin Provincial Key Laboratory of Water Resources and Environment, College of New Energy and Environment, Jilin University, Changchun 130012, China.

Liquid crystal monomers (LCMs) have emerged as novel endocrine disrupting chemicals that affect the growth, development, and metabolism of organisms by binding to nuclear hormone receptors (NHRs). However, the studies on the impact of LCMs' molecular features on their binding affinities remain limited. In this study, considering the challenge of activity cliffs in linear quantitative structure-activity relationship modeling, a multidimensional feature fusion model was developed to predict the binding affinities of 1173 LCMs to 15 NHRs.

Background: Phthalates are compounds used as plasticizers to increase the flexibility of plastics and are considered endocrine disruptors. Some studies suggest that the origin of prostate cancer (PCa) may be associated with disturbances during embryo-fetal development. Previous data showed that perinatal exposure to the same phthalate mixture (PM) used here increased the incidence of adenocarcinomas in the prostates of aged rats.
