Background: Total hip arthroplasty (THA) in elderly patients is often associated with significant perioperative pain. This study aimed to evaluate the analgesic efficacy of fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) and pericapsular nerve group block (PENGB) in elderly patients undergoing THA.
Methods: This retrospective study included two patient groups: the PENGB group ( = 62) and the FICB group ( = 64).
Ultrasound-guided pericapsular nerve group (PENG) blocks are safe and effective.

Background: Pain management in patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) can be challenging for emergency physicians (EPs). Current emergency department (ED) recommendations for pain management in patients with SCD include rapid triage and pain control with intravenous opioids, followed by other adjunctive modes of analgesia. Regional anesthesia is recommended as a possible adjunct treatment option, but is generally performed later in the hospital course rather than in the ED.

Methods: This retrospective observational study was conducted from January 2021 to December 2023 and included 216 elderly patients scheduled for THA.
