Background: Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) is a prevalent and distressing form of irritant contact dermatitis caused by prolonged exposure to urine and/or faeces. Not all incontinent individuals develop IAD, suggesting that additional prognostic factors contribute to its onset. The quality of empirical evidence supporting risk factors for IAD development is moderate to very low.

Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) is an evolving tool for comprehensive proteomic analyses across tissues. Despite the widespread use of LC-MS in dermatology, full-thickness human skin remains challenging to analyse. The skin extracellular matrix (ECM) presents two major obstacles: the extensive crosslinking complicates protein extraction and the high abundance of ECM proteins can mask lower-abundance proteins, reducing identification numbers.

Concerningly, multidrug-resistant bacteria have emerged as a prime worldwide trouble, obstructing the treatment of infectious diseases and causing doubts about the therapeutic accidentalness of presently existing drugs. The accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT, has raised critical questions about the role of pharmacists and the potential for AI to substitute for human expertise in pharmaceutical care. Grounded in Porter's Five Forces framework-specifically the threat of substitutes-this commentary explores whether AI can adequately fulfill the complex and relational functions of pharmacists in delivering care to patients. Drawing from foundational definitions of pharmaceutical care and economic theories of substitution, the paper examines both historical and emerging competitors to pharmacist-provided services, including physicians, nurses, and now AI-powered tools.

The offshore renewable energy industry is expanding rapidly due to decarbonisation commitments and need for energy security. This will change the marine environment in ways that are not fully understood, including more subsea power cables in the sea. Movement of electricity through these cables generates an electromagnetic field (EMF), which might affect marine species.
