New stationary phases including polar embedded stationary phases that are capable of utilising green mobile phases have recently emerged. This study presents two straightforward strategies for preparing C18 phases with distinct polar-embedded groups: thioether (C18) and quaternary ammonium (C18). The two strategies were assessed based on convenience, cost, yield, and time efficiency. After successful characterization, the phases and commercial C18 phases were thoroughly evaluated using various standard substances and testing protocols. Both C18 and C18 exhibited excellent wettability in highly aqueous mobile phases and good shape selectivity. C18 which has a low bonding density, demonstrated an impressive level of selectivity in the separation of basic compounds compared to other phases. In comparison, C18 exhibited enhanced performance in separating acidic compounds, benefiting from the embedded quaternary ammonium groups. The present study proposes a novel approach for constructing polar embedded alkyl stationary phases, which represents a necessary supplement to the existing C18 materials.

Nifurtimox (NFX) is a chiral drug used for the treatment of Chagas Disease. Little attention has been paid to the enantioselective properties of chiral drugs used for neglected tropical diseases, highlighting the need for further studies in this area. In this work, the enantioselective properties of NFX were carefully investigated by HPLC using different chiral stationary phases (CSPs) and chromatographic modes.

In Gram-negative bacteria, resistance-nodulation-division (RND)-type efflux pumps, particularly AcrAB-TolC, play a critical role in mediating resistance to antimicrobial agents and toxic metabolites, contributing to multidrug resistance. is an entomopathogenic bacterium that has garnered significant interest due to its production of bioactive specialized metabolites with anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and scavenger deterrent properties. In previous work, we demonstrated that AcrAB confers self-resistance to stilbenes in TT01.

This study explores the computational isolation of prostaglandin (PG) isomers, specifically PG E (PGE) and D (PGD), to enhance method development efficiency and provide insights into their retention behavior during supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) combined with supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC)-tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). Although PGE and PGD are positional isomers that yield identical product ions in MS/MS, they serve distinct biological roles. This research illustrates the efficacy of selected reaction monitoring (SRM)-based techniques for differentiating coeluting isomers.

Unlabelled: The wild yeast (parental of the lager brewing hybrid yeast) has been intensively studied for brewing applications since its discovery in Patagonia (Argentina), and then in other parts of the world. In this work, cultures of this non-conventional yeast in different physiological conditions were tested in terms of viability and vitality, to understand its behavior and provide tools for biomass quality assessment for brewing. Four dyes were analyzed, and alkaline methylene violet turned out to be the most accurate for viability measurements.
