Background: Delivery mode has been linked to child health, e.g., allergic disease. However, it remains unclear whether protein and metabolite differences across different delivery modes may underlie child development.
Methods: A cohort comprising 16 spontaneous onset vaginal delivery (VD), 16 prelabor cesarean delivery on maternal request (CS), and 8 intrapartum cesarean section (Intra_CS) women were analyzed using label-free proteomic and untargeted metabolomics assays on amniotic fluid and cord blood samples, respectively. We used weighted gene co-expression network analyses (WGCNA) to identify modules of highly correlated proteins or metabolites that associated with delivery modes and related clinical traits. KEGG enrichment analyses were performed to investigate the biological function of the identified modules. Integrative multiomics analysis was employed to examine the biological interplay between proteomic and metabolic interactions.
Results: Compared to the CS group, the proteomic and metabolomic profiles were similar between the Intra_CS and VD groups in our study. We did not identify any enriched protein or metabolite pathways related to immune development that could influence the risk of allergic diseases in offspring across different delivery modes. However, we identified seven protein modules correlated with the duration from the rupture of the membranes to full dilation of the cervix, with the actin cytoskeleton module significantly enriched. A metabolic module in cord blood that correlated with VD was enriched in subclasses including C21 steroids, steroid sulfates, and oxysterols. Integrative analysis of proteomic and metabolomic data suggested pathways related to mode of delivery and duration of labor, encompassing the actin cytoskeleton, NADP metabolic process, nicotinate, and nicotinamide metabolism in amniotic fluid, and the steroid hormone biosynthesis pathway in cord blood.
Conclusions: Differences in steroid hormones and the actin cytoskeleton pathway according to proteomics and metabolomics in amniotic fluid and cord blood were more indicative of the labor process. These findings could guide future studies on delivery-associated biochemical pathways.

The global prevalence of mental health disorders among youths aged 15 to 24 is a significant public health concern. This systematic review aimed to explore global strategies for promoting mental well-being and addressing mental health challenges within this demographic, as defined by the World Health Organization. A comprehensive search of electronic scientific databases was conducted on November 1, 2023, yielding 43 studies with a total of 29,581 participants published between 2008 and 2023 that examined mental health interventions targeting youth.

Introduction: Prospective hazard analysis (PHA) was introduced to the wider medical physics community by the initiation of American association of physicists in medicine task group 100 in 2003. Since then, there has been increasing interest in the applicability of PHA to radiotherapy for the purpose of keeping patients safe and assessing the risks within the whole practice of radiotherapy. The purpose of this research was to review the PHA literature focusing on which techniques and technologies have been assessed, how they have been assessed, and what can be learnt.

Background: Data on outcomes associated with various modes of delivery in pregnant patients with heart failure (HF) or pulmonary hypertension (pHTN) are limited.
Objective: We aim to investigate the association between mode of delivery on maternal and fetal outcomes in pregnant patients with HF or pHTN by conducting a multicenter, large scale and nationwide retrospective cohort study.
Methods: This retrospective population-based cohort study used the Nationwide Readmission Database to identify all hospitalized pregnant patients who were primarily admitted for vaginal or cesarean delivery from 2011 to 2019.

Purpose Of Review: This review explores the evolving understanding of efferocytosis - the clearance of dead or dying cells by phagocytes - in the context of atherosclerosis. It highlights recent discovers in cell death modalities, impaired clearance mechanisms and emerging therapeutic strategies aimed at restoring efferocytosis to stabilize plaques and resolve inflammation.
Recent Findings: Recent studies have expanded the scope of efferocytosis beyond apoptotic cells to include other pro-inflammatory cell death modes, including pyroptosis, necroptosis and ferroptosis, revealing context-dependent clearance efficiency and immunological outcomes.

Background: Maternal cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of maternal mortality. Data on anaesthetic management in patients with CVD is limited.
Methods: This ten-year retrospective cohort study of 508 pregnancies in women with CVD, stratified by modified World Health Organization (mWHO) risk category, compared lowrisk (mWHO I-II) (n = 323) and high-risk (mWHO II to III-IV) (n = 185) groups to a control obstetric population (n = 55,153).
