Article Abstract

A Delphi consensus-seeking procedure was conducted to validate a list of ICD-9-CM codes that could help identify hospital admissions in which antimicrobials are more likely to be prescribed. The panel agreed to include 2967 codes out of 16229 (18.28%). Such codes could support AMS strategies by large-scale monitoring of drug consumption.

Background: In patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) and chronic kidney disease (CKD), sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors, semaglutide (glucagon-like peptide-1 [GLP-1] agonist), and finerenone (non-steroidal mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist) improve renal and cardiovascular outcomes. We assessed real-world prescribing of these drugs in patients with T2D and CKD.

Method: The ReDiCare project retrospectively identified patients with T2D and CKD admitted to an Australian hospital between January 2020 and September 2024 using International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems 10th Revision Australian Modification codes.

Background: The quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) score is widely used for bedside risk stratification in sepsis patients. However, its limited sensitivity may hinder early identification. The lactate-enhanced qSOFA (LqSOFA), which incorporates serum lactate levels into the qSOFA score, may improve prognostic accuracy.
