Tetracycline was reported to trigger intense lucigenin chemiluminescence (CL). Based on its significant quenching to lucigenin-tetracycline CL, procyanidin was detected. The mechanism of the lucigenin-tetracycline CL and its quenching by procyanidin were proposed. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration curve is linear in the range of 10-1000 nM for procyanidin with a detection limit of 4.4 nM. The RSD for nine replicate determinations of procyanidin was less than 1.7%. Moreover, this method was satisfactorily applied to the determination of procyanidin in human urine samples and health food capsule of grape seed.

Ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) may improve feature-based molecular networking (FBMN) for annotating polyphenol isomers co-eluted in chromatography. The study aimed to assess the added value of trapped ion mobility spectrometry (TIMS) in metabolomics with FBMN for cocoa polyphenols. Untargeted analyses were performed on black and brown cocoa beans using a UHPLC-TIMS-Q-TOF system, with or without TIMS.

Objective: This study aimed to integrate network pharmacology, bioinformatics analysis, molecular docking, and experimental validation to construct a "component-target-pathway" multidimensional network model, systematically elucidate the potential mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effects of the extract of Potentilla freyniana Bornm. (PFB) on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and thereby clarify its pharmacological basis.
Methods: HCC datasets were retrieved from GEO and TCGA databases, and the DEGs were screened.

Ann tea is a traditional Chinese dark tea produced in Anhui Province, and it is beloved by consumers for its pleasant flavor and health attribute. Here, the detailed manufacturing process was investigated, and samples from key processing steps were chemical characterized. During the manufacturing process, about 15% of catechins and monosaccharide were significantly reduced and transformed to polymers, such as theanine-glucose, procyanidin dimer, and theasinensins.

Oxidative and inflammatory stresses contribute to the development of many intestinal pathologies. This study characterized the polyphenolic profile and biological activity of a hydroalcoholic extract obtained from the fruit pulp of on HT29 intestinal epithelial cells subjected to oxidative (HO) and inflammatory (cytokines) stress. HPLC-DAD-MS analysis revealed an interesting phenolic composition, rich in hydrolyzable tannins (HHDP-glucose, pedunculagin and other ellagic acid derivatives) and condensed tannins (procyanidin dimers), with a total polyphenol content of 8.

Conventional methods for food quality control are time-consuming and require large amounts of reagents. In this study, we present a novel application of near and mid-infrared spectroscopy combined with chemometrics to predict the physicochemical composition, phenolic constituents, (including total flavonoids, gallic acid, catechin, epicatechin, rutin, naringenin, procyanidin B1 and procyanidin B2) and various antioxidant parameters of pink pepper. Thirty-four models were optimized using regression by partial least squares (PLS and iPLS).
