To explore the influence of upward social comparison on social networking sites on individual well-being, as well as the role of envy and nature connectedness, a questionnaire survey was conducted among 1078 college students. The results indicated: (1) upward social comparison on social networking sites had a significant negative effect on well-being; (2) envy played a mediating role in the relationship between upward social comparison on social networking sites and well-being; and (3) nature connectedness moderated the direct effect of upward social comparison on social networking sites on well-being and the mediating effect of envy. The present study revealed the relationship between upward social comparison on SNSs and well-being and its internal mechanism, providing concrete ways to intervene individual well-being in the Internet era.

As the prevalence of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) rises in the United States, understanding social determinants of cognitive health has become increasingly important. While a robust literature highlights the downward transmission of (dis)advantage across generations, emerging research suggests that this transmission may also flow upwards from offspring to parents. Drawing on data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent to Adult Health (Add Health) parent sample, we examine the association between adult children's educational attainment and parental cognitive functioning at midlife using a propensity score matching approach to account for selection on observed confounders.

Background: Past research has indicated the close connection between social media use and women's envy, but so far, no research has been conducted to exclusively examine the effect and mechanism of social media use on women's body-related envy.
Objective: To fill this gap, with TikTok as a representative example of video-based social media, four studies ( = 767) were conducted to explore whether and how social media use increases women's body-related envy, and the subsequent downstream consequences.
Method And Results: In Study 1a, we employed an online questionnaire survey and found that TikTok use had a significantly positive prediction on women's body-related envy.
