Nitrogen oxides (NO), comprised of nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO), play a crucial role in the global nitrogen cycle, but the oceanic occurrence remained unclear. Here, we show an integrated underway observation of oceanic and atmospheric NO and NO from the coastal seas to the open ocean in the northwestern Pacific Ocean (NWPO). The concentrations of NO and NO showed similar distribution patterns that the coastal seas with rich nitrogen nutrients showed higher levels, like the Yellow Sea (7.6 and 19.9 pmol L) and the East China Sea (11.8 and 23.3 pmol L), while the oligotrophic sea and open ocean showed decreased levels, like the South China Sea (2.4 pmol L and below the detection limit, LOD) and the NWPO (3.5 pmol L and below the LOD). Apart from nitrogen nutrients, sea surface temperature might be another important influencing factor on the NO and NO distribution. In the surface water (<10 m), photoproduction was a major NO source compared to the microbial process, while in the mixed layer, the microbial process played a more critical role. The saturation values showed that the sea was a net source of atmospheric NO but was a net sink of NO.

Objectives: Acute lung injury (ALI) is an acute respiratory failure syndrome characterized by impaired gas exchange. Due to the lack of effective targeted drugs, it is associated with high mortality and poor prognosis. (TW) has demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity in the treatment of various diseases.

Background: High-dose insulin and euglycemic therapy are widely used to treat calcium channel blocker toxicity. However, the effect of insulin on vasodilation evoked by the dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker amlodipine remains unknown. This study examined the effect of insulin on amlodipine-induced vasodilation in isolated rat aortas with specific emphasis on mechanisms associated with nitric oxide (NO).

In obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), repeated airway obstruction alters mucosal inflammation, which increases exhaled nitric oxide (NO) production in the nasal cavity. However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. Accordingly, we aimed to examine the mechanism underlying NO production in patients with OSA.

Background: Tetrandrine (TET) demonstrates therapeutic potential for hypoxic pulmonary hypertension (HPH); however, its precise pharmacological mechanisms remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of TET on pulmonary vascular remodeling (PVR) in HPH and elucidate the molecular pathways through which TET ameliorates HPH.
Methods: We established a rat model of HPH and evaluated the therapeutic effects of TET by measuring hemodynamic parameters, assessing right ventricular hypertrophy, and analyzing pathological changes in lung tissue.

Introduction: Preserved ratio impaired spirometry (PRISm) is an important phenotype of pulmonary function in clinical and public health practice. It is possible for some patients to have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at an early stage. At present there is little research on the association of PRISm with type 2 (T2) inflammation biomarkers.
