Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate surgeons' ergonomic satisfaction when using laparoscopic energy devices and to investigate how prolonged use affects muscle fatigue and surgical performance.
Methods: A two-part study, including a survey and a kinesiologic experiment, was conducted to compare 4 laparoscopic energy devices (D1-D4). Thirty surgeons completed a structured survey assessing ergonomic factors such as device weight, grip strength, handle design, comfort, and trigger location.

Background: Hemi-hamate osteochondral grafting is a surgical technique that is utilized to reconstruct the proximal interphalangeal (PIP) joint in cases of unstable dorsal fracture-dislocation with >50% articular surface involvement. However, hemi-hamate osteochondral grafting can be technically challenging, has been reported to have various technical modifications, and can lead to complications such as overstuffing of the joint. This surgical technique article describes successful PIP joint reconstruction with use of a hemi-capitate osteochondral graft, which may offer a viable alternative to hemi-hamate osteochondral graft.

Hand control for dexterous and strength-based tasks involves several levels of the neuromuscular system which interact to produce force. We investigated hand force, motor unit (MU) control, and intermuscular coherence in specialist-trained groups to identify how training may affect neuromuscular force control and motor neuron activity. Equal groups of ten strength-trained (rock climbers) and dexterity-trained (musicians) individuals participated.

Objective: Currently, no standardized sonography protocol for evaluating the distal flexor tendons in the hand exists. The aims of this research were to 1) establish an image acquisition protocol to standardize assessment and 2) describe typical variations in the morphology of flexor tendons in healthy individuals.
Materials And Methods: A sonography protocol was developed, refined, and deployed in a cohort of healthy volunteers to collect images and cine clips of flexor tendons beginning at the mid-palm through insertion at the distal phalanx.

The neuromuscular junction (NMJ) is essential for transmitting neural stimulus to muscles, triggering muscle contraction. Mitochondria are enriched in NMJ to support the energy needs required for neuromuscular function and stability. Thus, maintaining mitochondrial homeostasis through the clearance of damaged mitochondria, a process known as mitophagy, is vital for preserving neuromuscular health.
