Cancer patients experience circadian rhythm disruptions during and after chemotherapy that can contribute to debilitating side effects. It is unknown how chemotherapy mediates circadian disruptions, and specifically the extent to which these disruptions occur at the level of the principal clock, the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) of the hypothalamus. In the present study, we assessed how the commonly used chemotherapeutic, paclitaxel, impacts the SCN molecular clock and SCN-dependent behavioral adaptations to circadian challenges in female mice.

Neuronal connectivity in the circadian clock network is essential for robust endogenous timekeeping. In the circadian clock network, the small ventral lateral neurons (sLNs) serve as critical pacemakers. Peptidergic communication mediated by the neuropeptide (PDF), released by sLNs, has been well characterized.

Most of the life forms on Earth have gradually evolved an endogenous biological clock under the long-term influence of periodic daily light-dark cycles. This biological clock system plays a crucial role in the orderly progression of life activities. In mammals, central circadian clock is located in the suprachiasmatic nucleus of the hypothalamus and the function of the biological clock relies on a transcription-translation negative feedback loop.

Nonunitary Variational Quantum Eigensolver with the Localized Active Space Method and Cost Mitigation.

Accurately describing strongly correlated systems with affordable quantum resources remains a central challenge for quantum chemistry applications on near and intermediate term quantum computers. The localized active space self-consistent field (LASSCF) approximates the complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF) by generating active space-based wave functions within specific fragments while treating interfragment correlation with mean-field approach, hence is computationally less expensive. Hardware-efficient ansatzes (HEA) offer affordable and shallower circuits, yet they often fail to capture the necessary correlation.

Purpose: To report our technique and outcomes of trans-umbilical laparoscopic single-site surgery (TULSS) with hepatic ductoplasty (HPD) to widen the hepaticojejunostomy (HJ) in the management of childhood choledochal cysts (ChC) with a small common hepatic duct (CHD).

Methods: All ChC cases undergoing TULSS with HPD to widen the HJ at two centers from May 2013 to March 2023 were retrospectively reviewed. Our HPD technique was indicated for CHDs with a diameter of 5 mm or less.
