Article Abstract

The thermoalkaliphile possesses a highly branched respiratory chain. These primarily facilitate growth at a wide range of dissolved oxygen levels. The aim of this study was to investigate the regulation of respiratory chain. was cultivated in chemostat bioreactors with a range of oxygen levels (0.25% O-4.2% O). Proteomic analysis unexpectedly showed that both the type I and the type II NADH dehydrogenase present are constitutive. The two terminal oxidases detected were the cytochrome :oxygen oxidase, whose abundance was highest at 4.2% O. The cytochrome :oxygen oxidase was more abundant at most other O levels, but its abundance started to decline below 0.42% O. We expected this would result in the emergence of the cytochrome :oxygen complex or the menaquinol:oxygen complex, the other two terminal oxidases of ; but neither was detected. Furthermore, the sodium-proton antiporter complex Mrp was downregulated under the lower oxygen levels. Normally, in alkaliphiles, this enzyme is considered crucial for sodium homeostasis. We propose that the existence of a sodium:acetate exporter decreases the requirement for Mrp under strong oxygen limitation.

Background: Standard treatment for glioblastoma includes chemotherapy, alkylating agents such as temozolomide (TMZ); however, MGMT resistance leads to recurrence. Demethoxycurcumin (DMC) has been reported to inhibit cancer cell growth, induce apoptosis, and prevent metastasis in different cancer models. We investigated the DMC-induced apoptosis and autophagy via inhibition of the AKT/mTOR pathway in human glioma U87MG and T98G cell lines.

Development of Zebrafish model for Iron Induced Neuroinflammation.

Fish Physiol Biochem

Shobhaben Pratapbhai Patel School of Pharmacy and Technology Management, SVKM's Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, 56, India.

Zebrafish models have been used to research Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders because of their similarities to the human genetic composition and behavior. Researchers have detected iron accumulation in the post-mortem brain sections of neurodegenerative disorder patients. Therefore, the development an animal model to simulate these clinical pathological findings is important.

Electrochemical CO reduction reaction (CORR) has emerged as a key negative-emission technology, yet its industrial adoption hinges on cathode catalysts that deliver high selectivity and production rates at low cost. Herein, we reported a facile hydrothermal route to synthesize different scales of ZnOHF ultrathin nanowires with hybridized ZnO/ZnOHF heterointerfaces, where the 40 nm variant (NW-ZnOHF) showed a high FE of 93 % and a of -17.2 mA/cm at -1.

BackgroundThe optimal cerebral protection strategy during complex aortic surgery remains controversial, and various brain monitoring modalities are used to provide different information to improve cerebral protection. This study aims to compare the effect of the change in cerebral oxygen saturation during hypothermic circulatory arrest on the early postoperative neurological outcome in antegrade cerebral perfusion (ACP) versus retrograde cerebral perfusion (RCP) during circulatory arrest in adult aortic surgery using cerebral oximetry.MethodsThis was a cross-sectional analytic study that enrolled a total of 84 patients undergoing total circulatory arrest during adult aortic surgery divided into two groups.
