Microswimmer locomotion in non-Newtonian fluids is crucial for biological processes, including infection, fertilization and biofilm formation. The behaviour of microswimmers in these media is an area with many conflicting results, with swimmers displaying varying responses depending on their morphology, actuation and the complex properties of the surrounding fluid. Using a hybrid computational approach, we numerically investigate the effect of shear-thinning rheology and viscoelasticity on a simple conceptual microswimmer consisting of three linked spheres.

Evidence-based practices (EBPs) are most effective when they are delivered with a high degree of fidelity, or as they are intended to be delivered. Because clinicians often deviate from fidelity, it is important to monitor EBP fidelity over time to guide corrective actions. However, little is known about current fidelity monitoring practices in community behavioral health care.

Impact of Flow Restrictors on Aerosol Delivery of the Respimat® Soft Mist Inhaler.

Pulm Ther

September 2025

Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG, Binger Straße 173, 55216, Ingelheim am Rhein, Germany.

Introduction: The modification of an inhaler's air flow resistance influences a patient's inhalation flow profile, thereby affecting the exit velocity of an aerosol leaving the Respimat® mouthpiece. A slower inhalation maneuver results in reduced plume velocity and thus a decreased oropharyngeal deposition due to reduced impaction. This could not only lead to fewer unwanted side effects associated with inhaled therapies, but also enhance lung deposition.

Background: Identifying molecular alterations specific to advanced lung adenocarcinomas could provide insights into tumour progression and dissemination mechanisms.

Method: We analysed tumour samples, either from locoregional lesions or distant metastases, from patients with advanced lung adenocarcinoma from the SAFIR02-Lung trial by targeted sequencing of 45 cancer genes and comparative genomic hybridisation array and compared them to early tumours samples from The Cancer Genome Atlas.

Results: Differences in copy-number alterations frequencies suggest the involvement in tumour progression of LAMB3, TNN/KIAA0040/TNR, KRAS, DAB2, MYC, EPHA3 and VIPR2, and in metastatic dissemination of AREG, ZNF503, PAX8, MMP13, JAM3, and MTURN.

For neurons to establish the correct connections in animal nervous systems, interactions between cell adhesion molecules (CAMs), expressed presynaptically and postsynaptically, are thought to guide neurons to their targets. Here, we assess the role that affinity between two cognate CAMs-DIP-α and Dpr10-plays in establishing the leg neuromuscular system in If affinity decreases or, surprisingly, increases past certain thresholds, motor neuron (MN) terminal branches fail to be maintained. Live imaging during development shows that when affinities are aberrant, MN filopodia are unable to productively engage their muscle targets.
