This study aimed to address the challenge of extending the shelf life of Boletus wild mushrooms, which are prone to environmental and microbial contamination. An antibacterial film composed of polylactic acid (PLA) and mesoporous silica nanoparticles loaded with citral (CMP film) was developed for this purpose. Fifteen quality indices were assessed, and the data were integrated using AHP and TOPSIS to evaluate the film's efficacy. The CMP film effectively maintained the quality of mushroom over time. Additionally, a Nonlinear Global Optimization-Long Short-Term Memory (NGO-LSTM) model was employed to predict storage quality, using seven highly correlated quality indicators. The model achieved a high predictive accuracy, with the R exceeding 0.999. This study presents a novel packaging solution and a predictive model that together enhance the storage and quality control of Boletus wild mushrooms.

This study assessed the chemical composition, antioxidant capacity, and bioaccumulation of heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Ni) in , , and collected from two forested regions of north-western Poland differing in anthropogenic influence and soil characteristics. Selenium (Se) and co-occurring total and organic mercury (THg and o-Hg) were investigated in wild edible mushroom species collected from Central Yunnan, Southwestern China. The regional terrain is known for being Se-deficient and consequential diseases such as Keshan and Kashin-Beck are endemic. "Pseudo-porcini" species, and , were Se-rich (means of 28 and 13 mg kg dry weight), while six other species contained tenfold lower concentrations.

Mushrooms are highly perishable, with a shelf life of up to three days. Considering their richness in nutrients and unique taste and aroma, extending their shelf-life presents a valuable field of exploration. Haplotype-resolved chromosomal reference genomes are increasingly available for many fungi, offering insights into the evolution of pathogenic and symbiotic lifestyles. However, these resources remain scarce for ectomycorrhizal fungi, which play crucial roles in forest ecosystems. Here, we used a combination of chromatin conformation capture and PacBio sequencing to construct a haplotype-resolved chromosomal genome assembly for Boletus edulis, a prized edible fungus and emerging model for ectomycorrhizal fungal research.
