Article Abstract

Dual-single-atom catalysts (DSACs) are the next paradigm shift in single-atom catalysts because of the enhanced performance brought about by the synergistic effects between adjacent bimetallic pairs. However, there are few methods for synthesizing DSACs with precise bimetallic structures. Herein, a pre-coordination strategy is proposed to precisely synthesize a library of DSACs. This strategy ensures the selective and effective coordination of two metals via phthalocyanines with specific coordination sites, such as -F- and -OH-. Subsequently, in situ confinement inhibits the migration of metal pairs during high-temperature pyrolysis, and obtains the DSACs with precisely constructed metal pairs. Despite changing synthetic parameters, including transition metal centers, metal pairs, and spatial geometry, the products exhibit similar atomic metal pairs dispersion properties, demonstrating the universality of the strategy. The pre-coordination strategy synthesized DSACs shows significant CO reduction reaction performance in both flow-cell and practical rechargeable Zn-CO batteries. This work not only provides new insights into the precise synthesis of DSACs, but also offers guidelines for the accelerated discovery of efficient catalysts.

This study explored the association between maternal blood lead, cadmium, mercury, and manganese concentrations during pregnancy and body mass index z-scores (zBMI), overweight, and obesity among children aged 0-4 years based on data from the Japan Environment and Children's Study (JECS). After data selection, 93,782 mother-child pairs were selected for analysis. Associations between prenatal metal exposure and obesity in children were explored using the generalized estimating equation (GEE), latent class growth analysis (LCGA), and quantile g-computation models.

Neutral aqueous Zn-air batteries (ZABs), while promising for extended lifespans and recyclability compared to alkaline systems, are hindered by sluggish kinetics that limit energy efficiency and power output. Here, we report an effective approach to construct a photo-assisted near-neutral ZAB based on a photo-responsive titanium silicalite-1 zeolite (TS-1). The incorporation of Ru active centers into the 3D porous architecture of TS@C (Ru@TS@C), which exhibits remarkably enhanced electronic conduction, creates interconnected conductive pathways.

The nature of the dominant pairing mechanism in some two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides is still debated. Focusing on monolayer 1H-NbSe, we show that superconductivity can be induced by the Coulomb interaction when accounting for screening effects on the trigonal lattice with multiple orbitals. Using ab initio based tight-binding parametrizations for the relevant low-energy d-bands, we evaluate the screened interaction microscopically.

This study presents a novel photovoltaic triboelectric nanogenerator (PTENG) that operates on sliding contacts between n-type (gallium arsenide) GaAs and metal electrodes in the presence of periodic light illumination, which offers harvesting energy synergistically by integrating both photovoltaic and triboelectric effects to enhance the energy output. Using an in-house built test setup with provision of laser illumination, the open-circuit voltage () and short-circuit current () were measured for the n-GaAs semiconductors with different metal contacts (Al and Cu). Under both laser light (630 nm) and without laser light conditions, n-GaAs with aluminum contacts exhibited the highest and values, reaching up to 11.

Integrating cross-scale active sites-single atoms (SA), atom pairs (AP), and nanoparticles-into a unified catalytic system presents a promising strategy for advancing oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), an extremely important process in energy conversion. However, the synergistic interplay among these sites and their mechanistic roles remains poorly understood. Here, we report a novel catalyst (3) featuring Zn, bonded Fe-Co with dual-oxygen ligands, and FeCo nanoparticles, synthesized via pyrolysis of a metal matrix-engineered metal-organic framework (MOF).
