Article Abstract

The term "dyskinesia" has often been used interchangeably with "winging," leading to ambiguity in the literature. To address this, the broader term "scapulothoracic abnormal motion (STAM)" was introduced to describe any abnormal position or movement of the scapula on the chest, resulting in pain and dysfunction. Scapulothoracic abnormal motion has a wide range of causes, including musculoskeletal imbalances such as pectoralis minor hyperactivity, neurological impairments such as long thoracic nerve palsy, and genetic conditions like facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). This review aims to identify the different causes and classifications of STAM and to propose a detailed treatment algorithm specifically designed to manage these conditions effectively.

Background: Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients with prior malignancy have been largely understudied, despite potentially facing higher risks of adverse outcomes. This case-control study aimed to identify independent risk factors for in-hospital mechanical complications among AMI patients with prior malignancies.

Methods: This study enrolled AMI patients with prior malignancy who were hospitalized for treatment.

Tool use is a complex motor planning problem. Prior research suggests that planning to use tools involves resolving competition between different tool-related action representations. We therefore reasoned that competition may also be exacerbated with tools for which the motions of the tool and the hand are incongruent (e.

Kounis syndrome, also known as allergic myocardial infarction, is a rare but potentially life-threatening condition in which acute coronary events are triggered by an allergic reaction. The pathophysiology involves mast cell degranulation and the release of inflammatory mediators such as histamine, leukotrienes, and platelet-activating factor, leading to coronary vasospasm, myocardial ischemia, or infarction. We present the case of a female patient in her 80s with no prior history of coronary artery disease who developed anaphylaxis shortly after intravenous administration of co-amoxiclav in the emergency department.

Single coronary ostium and intramural coronary artery variations in patients with transposition of the great arteries significantly increase the mortality and morbidity after arterial switch operation (ASO). In these patients, the classic coronary button implantation may cause kinking or twisting of the coronary artery which can cause coronary insufficiency. This case series presents two patients, a 15-month-old girl with transposition of the great arteries and a 10-month-old boy with a Taussig-Bing anomaly.

Purpose: To characterize the cavity hyperreflective-content and septum's motion artifact (CHASMA) in en face optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) across multiple ocular fundus abnormalities.

Methods: This was a cross-sectional, observational study. Subjects with extravascular OCTA signals arising from the cavity's hyperreflective-content and/or septum were enrolled.
