Introduction: The aim of this prospective and comparative study was to investigate the association of perimetry parameters on visual acuity and contrast sensitivity in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) eyes with diffractive extended depth-of-focus (EDoF) and monofocal intraocular lenses (IOLs).
Methods: In cataract eyes with medicinally controlled POAG with no defects in the central visual field and mean deviation (MD) values of - 10 dB or better, EDoF and monofocal IOLs with the same platform except for echelette optics for EDoF were implanted in 22 and 24 eyes, respectively. Corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), contrast sensitivity at 3 to 18 cycles per degree (cpd), and automated perimetry using 30-2 and 10-2 Swedish Interactive Threshold Algorithm programs were examined 3 months postoperatively. The influences of perimetry parameters including MD, foveal sensitivity (FS), and the means of the central four points (central MD and central FS) on CDVA and contrast sensitivity were evaluated using linear and multiple regression analyses.
Results: In POAG eyes with EDoF IOLs, contrast sensitivities at 12 and 18 cpd were associated with 30-2 and 10-2 perimetry parameters. In POAG eyes with monofocal IOLs, associations of 30-2 parameters were found in CDVA and 3-cpd contrast sensitivity.
Conclusions: The visual function of POAG eyes with EDoF IOLs was associated with perimetry parameters in high spatial frequency contrast sensitivity, which was different from that of POAG eyes with monofocal IOL.

The structural role of β-1,6-glucan has remained under-investigated in filamentous fungi compared to other fungal cell wall polymers, and previous studies have shown that the cell wall of the mycelium of did not contain β-1,6-glucans. In contrast, the current solid-state NMR investigations showed that the conidial cell wall contained a low amount of β-1,6-glucan. ssNMR comparisons of the and β-1,6-glucans showed they are structurally similar.

An early diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (PD) represents a challenge and novel accurate biomarkers are therefore urgently needed. Detection of phosphorylated α-synuclein (p-α-syn) in skin nerve fibers has shown promise as such a marker. However, its accuracy for the identification of PD among patients with early signs of parkinsonism has not been thoroughly explored.

Purpose: This paper aims to introduce an adapted, culturally competent leadership conceptual framework for indigenous health care, aiming to improve health access and address gaps in Western-centric leadership models.
Design/methodology/approach: A systematic literature review and thematic analysis of 32 peer-reviewed articles were conducted, guided by transformational and cultural sensitivity frameworks to adapt a conceptual framework to support health access in indigenous communities.
Findings: The adapted indigenous leadership conceptual framework (AILCF) includes 11 interrelated leadership themes - visionary leadership, supportive and empathetic leadership, adaptive leadership, integrity and ethical leadership, communicative leadership, courageous leadership, cultural competence, community engagement and relationship-building, historical trauma and healing, structural change and leadership in crisis - synthesized through transformational and culturally sensitive leadership lenses to support equitable health access and culturally grounded leadership in indigenous health-care settings.

Purpose: Recent work has shown potential benefits for perimetry with dense spacing. To investigate the impact of normal inhomogeneity of perimetric sensitivity on perimetry with dense spacing, suprathreshold perimetry was used near the optic disc where shadows of blood vessels affect sensitivity in healthy eyes.
Methods: Three groups of participants were tested: 58 healthy older controls, 29 healthy younger controls and 18 patients with glaucoma.
