A unique method for determining chlorophyll content in microalgae is devised employing a gold interdigitated electrode (G-IDE) with a 10-µm gap, augmented by a nano-molecularly imprinted polymer (nano-MIP) and a titanium dioxide/multiwalled carbon nanotube (TiO/MWCNT) nanocomposite. The nano-MIP, produced using chlorophyll template voids, successfully trapped chlorophyll, while the TiO/MWCNT nanocomposite, synthesized by the sol-gel technique, exhibited a consistent distribution and anatase crystalline structure. The rebinding of procured chlorophyll powder, which was used as a template for nano-MIP synthesis, was identified with a high determination coefficient (R = 0.9857). By combining the TiO/MWCNT nanocomposite with nano-MIP, the G-IDE sensing method achieved a slightly better R value of 0.9892 for detecting chlorophyll in microalgae. The presented G-IDE sensor showed a significant threefold enhancement in chlorophyll detection compared with commercially available chlorophyll powder. It had a detection limit of 0.917 mL (v/v) and a linear range that spanned from 10to 1 mL. The effectiveness of the sensor in detecting chlorophyll in microalgae was confirmed through validation of its repeatability and reusability.

This study presents the preparation, characterization, and application of a novel Multi-walled carbon nanotubes/TiO/chitosan (MWCNT/TiO/CS) nanocomposite, prepared using a hydrothermal method, for the removal of malachite green (MG) dye from aqueous solutions. Adsorption studies revealed optimal dye removal within 15 min of adsorption equilibrium time, with maximum removal efficiency of 98.53 % at pH 7.

Background: Single-walled (SWCNTs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) can pose risks in biological systems leading to harmful effects, such as, reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation, DNA damage, mitochondrial dysfunction, and ultimately, the cell death through apoptosis.
Objectives: The study assessed the nephrotoxicity of the SWCNTs and SWCNTs-Ag-TiO nanocomposites through in vitro and in vivo experiments, assessing oxidative stress, genotoxicity, and safety for biomedical applications.
Methodology: In vitro, HK-2 cell lines were utilized to evaluate the effects of nanomaterials on cellular activity, apoptosis, ROS generation, and micronuclei formations.

This study aimed to address the issue of rapid electron-hole recombination in photocatalysis by exploiting multi-phase TiO decorated on multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) to improve the photocatalytic degradation of dyes. A simple and eco-friendly one-pot method was utilized to create the TiO/MWCNT nanostructure using glucose as both a structure-directing agent and a carbon source without requiring any prior covalent or non-covalent functionalization of the MWCNTs at 160 °C. Furthermore, it was found that the average width of the nanocomposites changed from 20 ± 1 and 42 ± 2 nm to 56 ± 3 nm, corresponding to MWCNT contents of 1.

The present work shows the improved humidity sensing characteristics of TiO nanoparticles in the form of a nanocomposite with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) prepared by a hydration-dehydration method. The structural and morphological characterizations of TiO-MWCNTs confirm the nanocomposite formation without any other impurities and with an improved surface area. The pure TiO and nanocomposite films are deposited on IDE coated flexible poly-ethylene terephthalate (PET) substrates by a drop casting method.
