Guided bone regeneration (GBR) is essential in implant dentistry for managing bone deficiencies. Despite its high success rate, complications like wound dehiscence, membrane exposure, and infection can compromise outcomes. These issues are influenced by patient health, surgical technique, and the implanted biomaterials.

Over the past few decades, researchers have attempted to overcome the disadvantages of metallic stents. This led to the birth of the first "Bioresorbable Scaffold" (BRS) model, the Absorb Bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold (BVS), in 1999 by Abbott. A stent that spontaneously resorbs shows a promising theoretical minimal risk of long-term stent thrombosis and omits the need for long-term antiplatelet therapy.

Background: Biodegradable orthopaedic implants have emerged as an innovative alternative to traditional permanent metallic or inert polymer implants, aiming to provide mechanical support during critical healing phases and subsequently degrade in vivo. Their primary advantage lies in eliminating the need for a second surgery to remove hardware, thus potentially reducing patient morbidity and healthcare costs. Despite these benefits, challenges related to unpredictable degradation kinetics, mechanical strength, and biocompatibility have restricted their widespread clinical application.

Bone adhesives have significant potential for improving surgical procedures and can enhance and simplify them. Recently, phosphoserine-modified mineral-organic resorbable bone adhesives have shown particular promise. Among them, MgO/MgP-based cement exhibit high adhesive strength but suffer from water instability.

: Adequate soft tissue thickness and keratinized mucosa are essential for the long-term health and esthetics of the peri-implant area. A porcine acellular dermal matrix (PADM) has shown promise in augmenting soft tissue, but reliable fixation remains a challenge. : This case series describes the use of a PADM fixed with resorbable magnesium screws (NOVAMag) in three patients requiring peri-implant soft tissue augmentation.
