Aim: The study aims to investigate the prognostic value of deep learning based pericoronary adipose tissue attenuation computed tomography (PCAT) and plaque volume beyond coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) -derived fractional flow reserve (CT-FFR) in patients with percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Methods: A total of 183 patients with PCI who underwent coronary CTA were included in this retrospective study. Imaging assessment included PCAT, plaque volume, and CT-FFR, which were performed using an artificial intelligence (AI) assisted workstation.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the role of pericoronary adipose tissue, specifically the fat attenuation index (FAI), in diagnosing Takayasu arteritis (TAK) with coronary artery involvement (CAI).
  • It involved 111 TAK patients, classifying them into subgroups based on coronary involvement and disease activity, and compared their FAI to a control group.
  • Findings indicate that a higher FAI correlates with coronary involvement and activity in TAK, showing potential as an independent risk factor for assessing the condition, particularly with specific cut-off values for sensitivity and specificity.

Background: Machine learning (ML) is combined with noninvasive parameters from coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) to construct predictive models to identify culprit lesions that may lead to acute coronary syndrome (ACS).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 132 patients with ACS at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University who had coronary CTA between 3 months and 3 years before the ACS event, with a total of 240 lesions. Lesions from 2020 (n=154) were included in the training set, and lesions from 2021 (n=86) were included in the test set for internal validation.

Objectives: Previous studies reported the association between inflammation and atrial fibrillation (AF). Pericoronary adipose tissue (PCAT) attenuation, PCATA, on cardiac CT angiography (CTA) reflects pericoronary inflammation. We hypothesized that the PCATA predicts AF recurrence after cryoballoon ablation (CBA) for paroxysmal and persistent AF.
