Article Abstract

Outdoor thermal irritation poses a serious threat to public health, with the frequent occurrence of increasingly intense heat waves. With the global goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, there is an urgent need for a strategy that is efficient and can provide localized outdoor cooling without an intensive energy input. This paper demonstrated a rapidly formable polyurethane-based coating with controlled bimodal spherical micropores. Nano-AlO particles (300 nm) embedded in the polymer were used for targeted enhancement of reflectance at 0.38-0.5 wavelengths. The enhanced film reflected 93% solar irradiance and selectively transmitted 95% thermal radiation (8-13 μm), enabling rapid cooling and the creation of a comfortable thermal microclimate to avoid overheating of 6-11 °C during daytime conditions. The ultrawide material compatibility and excellent adaptive mechanical strength of polyurethane-based coatings are expected to benefit the sustainable development of society in a wide range of fields, from health to economics.

This work reports the nanoscale micellar formation in single and mixed surfactant systems by combining an amphiphilic graft copolymer, Soluplus® (primary surfactant), blended with other polyoxyethylene (POE)-based nonionic surfactants such as Kolliphor® HS15, Kolliphor® EL, Tween-80, TPGS®, and Pluronics® P123 in an aqueous solution environment. The solution behaviour of these surfactants as a single system were analyzed in a wide range of surfactant concentrations and temperatures. Rheological measurements revealed distinct solution behaviour in the case of Soluplus®, ranging from low-viscosity () and fluid-like behavior at ≤20% w/v to a highly viscous state at ≥90% w/v, where the loss modulus ('') exceeded the storage modulus (').

Background: Anopheles darlingi is a primary malaria vector in the Peruvian Amazon, yet characterization of behavioural traits contributing to human-vector contact is limited. Additionally, studies comparing key behaviours of wild-type to colonized An. darlingi populations are minimal.

Background: This was a single-institution controlled trial examining whether the intraoperative combination of near-infrared-induced autofluorescence of the parathyroid glands and preresection indocyanine green near-infrared angiograms of the parathyroid feeding vessels can reduce the incidence of postoperative hypoparathyroidism 1 year after surgery in patients undergoing total or completion thyroidectomy.

Methods: Included patients underwent total or completion thyroidectomy. The intervention group was prospective and underwent surgery with bimodal near-infrared-induced autofluorescence of the parathyroid glands and preresection indocyanine green near-infrared angiograms.

Cochlear implants (CIs) and hearing aids (HAs) have enhanced auditory rehabilitation in elderly individuals, yet limitations in musical perception and psychosocial integration persist. This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effects of music therapy (MT) on the quality of life (QoL), self-esteem, auditory perception, and cognition in older CI and HA users. A comprehensive search of PubMed was conducted up to March 2022 following PRISMA guidelines.

The development of nanoplatforms capable of efficient heat generation and stable radionuclide delivery is essential for effective bimodal cancer therapy. In this study, binary (Fe-M) and ternary (Fe-M-M') metal oxide nanoparticles were synthesized via a polyol method optimized to produce flower-like γ-FeO (maghemite) structures, with M and M' representing Zn and/or Mn. Comprehensive structural and magnetic characterization was conducted to explain the relationship between composition, defect structure, and hyperthermic performance.
