Photo-dissolution, the photochemical production of water-soluble species from oil, can transfer oil-derived dissolved organic carbon (DOC) from floating surface slicks to the underlying seawater. Photo-dissolution was likely a quantitatively relevant fate process for the Macondo crude oil spilled during the 2010 spill, but the importance of photo-dissolution for other oils is poorly constrained. This study evaluated the photo-dissolution reactivities (apparent quantum yields) and modeled rates for oils with diverse physical properties and chemical compositions, including an ultra low sulfur fuel oil (ULSFO). Photo-dissolution from UV (310 nm) light was strongly positively correlated with the fraction of small, gas-oil range compounds (

The control of dengue vector mosquitoes by utilizing plant-based eco-friendly larvicides is pivotal in suppressing the spread of dengue with minimum environmental toxicity. This study aimed to evaluate the larvicidal activity of nanoliposomes containing p-cresol and Myristica fragrans Houtt. essential oil (EO) against Aedes aegypti L.

With the acceleration of global industrialization, a large amount of polluted wastewater is discharged indiscriminately, which both pollutes the environment and threatens human health. In this study, by constructing a binary system of unsaturated polyester resin/carboxychitosan, and improving the inherent defects of carboxychitosan aerogel, we successfully prepared aerogels with high porosity, low density, and laminar porous structure for water remediation by using a combination of the sol-gel method and directional freezing technology. Thanks to the synergistic effect of surface wettability and special pore structure, the aerogel not only adsorbs and separates MB and Pb(II) efficiently with a separation efficiency of more than 99 %, but also has a separation efficiency of 99.

The regulation of droplet dynamics based on external electric fields and bioinspired functional surfaces has widespread applications in various fields. However, research on the coupling of these two factors to enhance oil-water separation efficiency is urgently needed. In this study, laser-induced and solvent treatment techniques were coupled to assemble a micronano setal and bioinspired beetle elytra textured substrate with the lotus effect, A "top conductive, bottom insulating" Desert beetle elytra micronano tuft composite texture (DBE) biomimetic superhydrophobic surface was fabricated.
