Little is known about the biomarkers of mortality in SARS-CoV-2-infected patients without a previous diagnosis of diabetes. Thus, this study aimed to assess the fibrinogen-to-platelet ratio (FPR) and compare its predictive value with the main biomarkers for COVID-19 mortality, such as neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), leukocyte glucose index (LGI), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)/lymphocyte ratio. This retrospective cohort study in a population of Mexico included 70 non-diabetic patients with COVID-19 from 1 May 2020 to 30 September 2020.

Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonists exhibit anti-inflammatory actions, yet the importance of direct immune cell GLP-1R signaling remains uncertain. Although T cells respond to GLP-1, low receptor abundance and suboptimal antisera complicate efforts to characterize immune cell GLP-1R signaling. Here, we evaluate three frequently utilized GLP-1R antibodies, revealing that one of several antibodies, AGR-021, lack ideal specificity for detecting the GLP-1R in mice.

Background: CD4 T lymphocytes play a central role in the pathogenesis of periodontitis, with the Treg/Th17 (regulatory T cell/T helper 17 cell) imbalance closely linked to diabetes-associated periodontitis (DPD). Maxacalcitol (OCT), an analog of active vitamin D, has therapeutic effects on diseases involving Treg/Th17 imbalance. This study aimed to determine whether OCT improved DPD by restoring the Treg/Th17 imbalance via store-operated Ca entry (SOCE)-mediated mitochondrial dysfunction.

Currently, accessible objective indicators for predicting the prognosis and treatment outcomes of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) are lacking. This study investigates the potential of T lymphocyte subsets and mitochondrial biomarkers as predictors of metastasis and evaluators of therapy response in advanced NSCLC. We analyzed clinical data from 24 advanced NSCLC patients, including T-cell counts and mitochondrial mass (MM)/membrane potential (MMP) measurements.

The efficacy of biologics, such as peptide and protein drugs, is often limited by their short half-lives in vivo, necessitating repeated infusions to maintain therapeutic effects. Here, we demonstrate that long-lived CAR T cells can be leveraged as a versatile platform for long-term delivery of biologics. Our recent findings show that the depletion of BCOR and ZC3H12A induces GD2 CAR T cells into an immortal-like and functional state, which we have termed GD2T cells.
