Continuous Flow Photocatalysis Boosting C─N Coupling for Sustainable High-Efficiency Formamide Synthesis.

The construction of C─N bonds from simple precursors under ambient conditions is a fundamental challenge in green chemistry, especially when it comes to avoiding energy-intensive protocols. Here, we present a continuous flow photocatalytic platform that enables the efficient coupling of C─N bonds between methanol and ammonia at ambient temperature and pressure. By synergistically engineering a Pd clusters-decorated TiO photocatalyst (1Pd/TiO) and a mass transfer-enhanced gas-liquid-solid Taylor flow reactor, the system achieves a remarkable formamide productivity of 256.

Solvent attenuation of dispersion interactions was quantified using a new class of rigid intramolecular CH-π molecular balances. These balances incorporate small, two-carbon CH donors that minimize solvophobic effects and isolate the dispersion component. Folding energies (Δ ) were measured across eight solvents: cyclohexane, toluene, chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone, acetonitrile, DMSO, and methanol.

Glyphosate (GLY) is the most widely used herbicide globally. Despite concerns regarding its potential adverse effects on human health and the environment, its use continues to grow each year. Following application, a substantial proportion of GLY infiltrates the soil, where it can degrade into transformation products such as aminomethylphosphonic acid (AMPA), which is much more persistent than the parent compound.

Many Arctic fishes experience prolonged periods of extreme cold and large thermal variation over both rapid and seasonal time scales which challenge critical physiological functions. In the central Canadian Arctic, we caught wild adult lake trout (Salvelinus namaycush) acclimatized to winter and summer temperatures to determine the extent to which they seasonally adjust cardiac thermal performance and adrenergic control. We assessed the intrinsic and maximum heart rate (f and f) of anaesthetised fish through cholinergic blockade and either adrenergic blockade (f) or stimulation (f) during acute warming.

The Caribbean spiny lobster Panulirus argus is a social species in which individuals aggregate for protection during the day using chemicals in their urine as guiding cues. This behavior changes when animals are infected by Panulirus argus virus 1 (PaV1), such that healthy animals avoid the urine of diseased conspecifics. The aim of this study was to identify the molecules responsible for this switch in aggregation behavior.
