Background: This study aimed to effectively evaluate the diagnostic performance of the EasyNAT Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTC) assay for tuberculosis (TB) detection from sputum.
Methods: The retrospectively analyzed data was collected from September 1, 2021, to November 1, 2023, in our hospital.
Results: Forty EasyNAT-positive sputum specimens were simultaneously detected using the GeneXpert MTB/ rifampicin (RIF) assay. The concordance rate between the EasyNAT and GeneXpert MTB/RIF assays was 100%.
Conclusions: Because of the complexity of detecting RIF resistance data information, the rapid EasyNAT system used in conjunction with GeneXpert might be a better choice for the detection of TB in hospitals.

This research aimed to investigate the preoperative risk factors for lymph node metastasis (LNM) in medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) using clinical, pathological, serological, ultrasound, and radiomics characteristics. Additionally, it aimed to explore the diagnostic precision of ultrasound (US) for MTC and LNM. A retrospective analysis of 111 nodules was eligible from 104 patients from January 1, 2000, to December 28, 2024.

Background: Select patients with metastatic clear-cell renal-cell carcinoma can be treated without systemic therapy, yet few studies have explored this population. We investigated the efficacy of metastasis-directed therapy without systemic therapy in oligometastatic clear-cell renal-cell carincoma.
Methods: This investigator-initiated single-arm, phase 2 trial enrolled patients aged 18 years or older with an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0-2, histologically confirmed clear-cell renal-cell carcinoma, and one to five metastases.

Objectives: Major advancements have been made in applying artificial intelligence and computer vision to analyze videolaryngoscopy data. These models are limited to post hoc analysis and are aimed at research settings. In this work, we assess the feasibility of a real-time solution for automated vocal fold tracking during in-office laryngoscopy.

Ocean warming is leading to a tropicalization of fisheries in subtropical regions around the world. Here, we scrutinize pelagic fisheries catch data from 1978 to 2018 in the South Atlantic Ocean in search of signs of tropicalization in these highly migratory and top-of-the-food-chain fish. Through the analysis of catch composition data, thermal preferences, and climatic data, we described the temporal variability in the mean temperature of the catch and assessed the role of sea surface temperature and the Brazil Current's transport volumes as drivers of such variability.

The American Thyroid Association has stratified C634 mutations as high risk. The association between C634R mutation and a more aggressive medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) behavior compared with other C634 mutations remains inconclusive, possibly due to the lack of large cohorts and long-term outcome data. This study aimed to evaluate the aggressiveness and long-term outcomes of hereditary MTC in patients with different codon 634 mutations.
