Article Abstract

Hirata disease, also known as insulin autoimmune syndrome (IAS), is a rare cause of hypoglycemia, due to the presence of insulin autoantibodies (IAA) in the circulating blood. These antibodies are immunoglobulin G (IgG), making placental transfer to the fetus possible. To our knowledge, no reports of IAS have been previously described in the neonatal population. We present a case report of hypoglycemia due to a secondary IAS in a neonate and discuss the management and treatment of the disease.

In biochemically recurrent prostate cancer (BRPC), no definitive independent prognostic factors were reported. This study aimed to identify the factors impacting overall survival (OS) in patients with BRPC after radical prostatectomy (RP). Among 610 consecutive patients who underwent RP between January 2000 and December 2019, with follow-up through December 2024, 152 (25%) patients who developed BRPC were analyzed.

Background: Preoperative physical frailty is a significant predictor of adverse postoperative outcomes in older patients undergoing cardiac surgery. Inflammation plays a crucial role in the development of frailty and contributes to postoperative complications. This study investigated the effects of preoperative beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB), arginine, and glutamine supplementation on inflammatory markers, nutritional status, and renal function in older patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Background: Oral fluoropyrimidine, S-1 is the standard adjuvant chemotherapy for patients with resected pancreatic cancer (PC) in Japan. Patients experiencing early recurrence are typically treated with 5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin (FOLFIRINOX) or gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel (GnP), which are commonly used in patients with advanced PC. However, no clinical studies have compared these regimens in this particular population.

We previously conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis examining the effects of smartphone application-based interventions on blood pressure (BP). Building on that work, here we present a secondary analysis which explored the effects of these interventions on cardiometabolic risk factors. We searched MEDLINE, the Cochrane Library, and Ichushi for randomized controlled trials and observational studies comparing smartphone application-based interventions with usual care excluding digital technologies.

Maturation of transfer RNA molecules often requires removal of intronic sequences by endonucleases that recognize diverse RNA secondary structures. Archaeal splicing endonucleases [versatile RNA-splicing endonucleases (VSENs)] exhibit remarkable substrate versatility, yet the structural basis for this broad specificity has remained unclear. Here, we report the 1.
