Aging correlates with alterations in metabolism and neuronal function, which affect the overall regulation of energy homeostasis. Recent studies have highlighted that protein O-GlcNAcylation, a common post-translational modification regulating metabolic function, is linked to aging. In particular, elevated O-GlcNAcylation increases energy expenditure, potentially due to alterations in the neuronal function of the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus (ARC), a key brain region for energy balance and metabolic processes.

Nuclear migration plays a fundamental role in development, requiring precise spatiotemporal control of bidirectional movement through dynein and kinesin motors. Here, we uncover a differential isoform-dependent mechanism for developmental regulation of nuclear migration directionality. The nuclear envelope Klarsicht/ANC-1/Syne homology (KASH) protein UNC-83 in Caenorhabditis elegans exists in multiple isoforms that differentially control motor activity to achieve tissue-specific nuclear positioning.

Surface electromyography (sEMG) signals play a pivotal role in muscle force studies, but its non-stationarity challenges the reliability of sEMG-driven models. This problem may be alleviated by fusion with electrical impedance myography (EIM), an active sensing technique incorporating tissue morphology information.

Purpose: Resection of glioblastomas infiltrating the motor cortex and corticospinal tract (CST) is often linked to increased perioperative morbidity. Navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS) motor mapping has been advocated to increase patient safety in these cases. The additional impact of patient frailty on overall outcome after resection of cases with increased risk for postoperative motor deficits as identified with nTMS needs to be investigated.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common, complex, and untreatable form of dementia which is characterized by severe cognitive, motor, neuropsychiatric, and behavioural impairments. These symptoms severely reduce the quality of life for patients and impose a significant burden on caregivers. The existing therapies offer only symptomatic relief without addressing the underlying silent pathological progression.
