Electron microscopy (EM) has been essential for the diagnosis of dense deposit disease (DDD) and C3 glomerulonephritis (C3GN). Recent research showed significantly higher accumulation of apolipoprotein E (ApoE) in DDD compared to C3GN and tested the use of ApoE immunohistochemistry for DDD diagnosis. We aimed to investigate the diagnostic value of ApoE in DDD and C3GN using three distinct ApoE clones, D719N, EP1373Y, and 1B2C9.

Atherosclerosis is the leading cause of cardiovascular diseases and remains a global health challenge. Low-density lipoproteins are crucial in atherogenesis, with plasma levels as significant independent predictors of the condition. Lipoprotein(a), Lp(a), is an LDL variant considered a stand-alone atherosclerosis predictor.

Background: A key step in primary prevention is the assessment of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk. Risk enhancer tests are additional tools used to further improve ASCVD risk assessment over conventional risk markers. Our objective was to determine whether estimated small, dense low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (E-sdLDL-C) can improve risk assessment and serve as a new risk enhancer test.

Aims: Small dense low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (sdLDL-C) is an emerging atherogenic lipid marker, but its association with lower extremity arterial disease (LEAD) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remains underexplored. This study aimed to evaluate whether sdLDL-C independently predicts LEAD risk in T2DM patients.
Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 47 healthy controls, 66 T2DM patients, and 120 patients with both T2DM and LEAD.
