Follicular unit extraction (FUE) has become a leading technique in hair transplantation, yet optimal management of the donor area remains a clinical challenge. This systematic review analyzes intraoperative and postoperative interventions applied to the donor area in FUE hair transplantation, with a focus on both clinical outcomes and the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in tissue repair, inflammatory response, and regenerative processes. A comprehensive literature search was conducted in PubMed and EMBASE (January 2000-June 2025), identifying clinical studies that evaluated donor area treatments and reported outcomes related to healing, inflammation, infection, and patient satisfaction.

Recent research has shown that KATP channels in mouse taste bud cells enhance glucose taste signaling by depolarizing the cell when ATP is present. Relatedly, estradiol has been shown to enhance glucose sensing in human pancreatic β cells via closure of KATP channels. Since taste tissue has estradiol receptors, we linked these two observations and tested whether elevated estradiol may also enhance taste sensitivity and liking for glucose in humans.

Craniofacial muscles are essential for a variety of functions, including fine facial expressions. Severe injuries to these muscles often lead to more devastating consequences than limb muscle injuries, resulting in the loss of critical functions such as mastication and eyelid closure, as well as facial aesthetic impairment. Therefore, the development of targeted repair strategies for craniofacial muscle injuries is crucial.

Salecan-based hydrogel (thereafter called Sal-hydrogel) dressings and gut microbiota have been associated with enhanced wound healing. However, the relationship between these two factors remains unclear. This study investigated the dynamic characteristics of the intestinal microbiota in relation to the Sal-hydrogel dressings and their role in promoting wound healing.
