Direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) have transformed hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment in Australia since their inclusion on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) in 2016. Treatment has shifted from genotype-specific to pan-genotypic regimens, with glecaprevir/pibrentasvir and sofosbuvir/velpatasvir now recommended in clinical guidelines. This study examined trends in DAA dispensing in light of evolving treatment regimens.

Monitoring the physiology of elephants living in human-production landscapes has become increasingly important for understanding how they cope with various challenges that affect their overall fitness. We assessed physiological stress by measuring faecal glucocorticoid metabolite (fGCM) levels and metabolic states using faecal triiodothyronine (fT3) across three free-ranging Asian elephant populations (one in Central India and two in Northeastern India) whose home ranges encompass varying extents of disturbance in human-production landscapes. We present landscape disturbance metrics to characterize variations in fragmentation and anthropogenic pressures across the study landscapes and use faecal carbon and nitrogen (C/N) ratio as a proxy for dietary quality, with higher C/N values indicating poorer-quality diets.

Background: Breast cancer survivors have an increased risk of second primary cancers (SPCs), the role of county-level socioeconomic status and rurality-factors that may influence access to treatment, surveillance, and preventive care-remains understudied.
Methods: We identified 721,957 women with localized/regional first primary breast cancer who survived ≥ 1 year in 17 Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results registries (2000-2018). We used Cox regression to assess associations between county-level median household income (proxy for socioeconomic status), rurality, and their joint effects on invasive SPC risk, adjusting for demographic and clinical factors.

Antidepressants are among the most-prescribed drugs worldwide, and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are among the most prescribed antidepressants, most commonly used for major depression. We sought to increase our understanding of the biological relationships between SSRI use and a range of psychiatric traits by conducting a genome-wide association study (GWAS) in two large datasets, the UK Biobank (UKB) and the US Million Veteran Program (MVP). GWAS was conducted across 22 autosomes and the X chromosome in 777,952 individuals of European ancestry (191,800 SSRI users, 586,152 controls) and 112,526 individuals of African ancestry (53,499 SSRI users, 59,027 controls).
