Direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) have transformed hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment in Australia since their inclusion on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) in 2016. Treatment has shifted from genotype-specific to pan-genotypic regimens, with glecaprevir/pibrentasvir and sofosbuvir/velpatasvir now recommended in clinical guidelines. This study examined trends in DAA dispensing in light of evolving treatment regimens.

During the terminal phase, access to medicines is critical for people wishing to spend their last days of life at home. Yet, access to medicines can be problematic. The aim of this study was to report the perspectives of specialist and generalist health professionals (HPs) on the issues of community access to medicines for this vulnerable group.

Ga(III) complexes--the effect of metal coordination on potential systemic absorption after topical exposure.

The handling of elemental gallium is not thought to be harmful, but this assumption does not consider metal coordination which readily occurs in physiological fluids. The aim of this work was to determine Ga(III) coordination behaviour in simple solutions and assess the effects of complex formation upon skin permeation in vitro. Ga(III) coordination was modelled using metal-ligand stability constants in silico and the permeation of the metal through human and porcine skin determined using four test conditions.
