Recent progress in metagratings highlights the promise of high-performance wavefront engineering devices, notably for their exterior capability to steer beams with near-unitary efficiency. However, the narrow operating bandwidth of conventional metagratings remains a significant limitation. Here, we propose and experimentally demonstrate a dual-layer metagrating, incorporating enhanced interlayer couplings to realize high-efficiency and broadband anomalous reflection within the microwave frequency band. The metagrating facilitated by both intralayer and interlayer couplings is designed through the combination of eigenmode expansion (EME) algorithm and particle swarm optimization (PSO) to significantly streamline the computational process. Our metagrating demonstrates the capacity to reroute a normally incident wave to +1 order diffraction direction across a broad spectrum, achieving an average efficiency approximately 90% within the 14.7 to 18 GHz range. This study may pave the way for future applications in sophisticated beam manipulations, including spatial dispersive devices, by harnessing the intricate dynamics of multi-layer metagratings with complex interlayer and intralayer interactions.

Anisotropic van der Waals crystals have gained significant attention in nano-optics and optoelectronics due to their unconventional optical properties, including anomalous reflection, canalization, and nanofocusing. Polaritons─light coupled to matter excitations─govern these effects, with their complex wavevector encoding key parameters such as wavelength, lifetime, field confinement, and propagation direction. However, determining the complex wavevector, particularly the misalignment between its real and imaginary parts, has remained a challenge due to the complexity of the dispersion relation.

Anomalous trichromacy (AT) results from a reduced spectral separation between the L and M cone photopigments. This leads to smaller differential responses in the L and M cones and thus lower sensitivity to the colors signaled by the LvsM difference. Despite this, for stimuli above threshold, many color-anomalous observers report color experiences that resemble those of color-normal individuals, suggesting some form of perceptual compensation for their sensitivity losses.

Purpose: Limbal stem cell deficiency (LSCD), a sight-threatening condition, is caused by dysfunction of the limbal stem cells (LSCs) which maintain the corneal epithelium. An effective treatment of LSCD is the transplantation of ex-vivo cultured LSCs from the patient's healthy other eye (in unilateral cases) or a donor eye (in bilateral cases) to the affected eye. Here we identify and quantify diagnostic and monitoring criteria for the recovery of the corneal epithelium post-LSC transplant using cellular images.
