Background: Ward-round quality impacts patient outcomes, and poor conduct results in increased rates of preventable adverse events. Despite being a core component of patient outcomes, there is minimal literature informing best practice. The aviation industry has mitigated human error using a "Sterile Cockpit" to reduce interruptions and non-essential activities.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a severe neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive degeneration of motor neurons, leading to muscle weakness, paralysis, and death. While there is a plethora of studies focusing on many aspects of ALS, the pathogenesis of this disease is not well understood, and effective treatments are scarce. Drosophila melanogaster is a powerful model organism for studying ALS due to its genetic tractability and its evolutionarily conserved cellular and molecular processes which are also shared between the fly and human.

For the first time, long-wavelength red emission carbon dots (R-CDs) were prepared as ratiometric fluorescent and colorimetric dual-mode sensors for detecting ClO using a simple one-step hydrothermal method. R-CDs exhibited intrinsic red fluorescence at 587 nm. Upon interaction with ClO, a new and enhanced green fluorescence at 535 nm was observed, which was attributed to resulting from the oxidation of surface hydroxyl (-OH) groups to carbonyl (CO) groups.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is a pivotal tool for mapping neuronal activity in the brain. Traditionally, the observed hemodynamic changes are assumed to reflect the activity of the most common neuronal type: excitatory neurons. In contrast, recent experiments, using optogenetic techniques, suggest that the fMRI-signal could reflect the activity of inhibitory interneurons.

Background: Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder lacking objective biomarkers for early diagnosis. DNA methylation is a promising epigenetic marker, and machine learning offers a data-driven classification approach. However, few studies have examined whole-blood, genome-wide DNA methylation profiles for ASD diagnosis in school-aged children.
