Blood purification using immunoadsorbent columns is a therapeutic strategy for removing pathogenic autoantibodies in autoimmune diseases. Currently available columns have limitations: Trp/Phe columns offer cost-effectiveness and sterilizability, but lack antigen specificity and have limited capacity to remove diverse pathogenic autoantibodies; whereas Protein A/peptide/anti-human IgG columns target all antibodies, regardless of pathogenicity, limiting specificity, and often require sterile production due to low stability under sterilization conditions, except for peptide ligands. Full-length autoantigen-immobilized immunoadsorbent columns have great potential to specifically adsorb targeted autoantibodies, because autoantibodies recognize diverse epitopes that vary among individuals.

This study aimed to explore the potential of garlic proteins for producing multifunctional salty peptides. Three novel salty peptides (SNDPGR, SASDPNF, and ASTCMAR) were identified through simulated hydrolysis and in silico screening. Sensory evaluation and electronic tongue analysis confirmed their potent saltiness, with dose-dependent salt-enhancing effects further validated by the electronic tongue.

Seizure-related homolog protein 6 (SEZ6) is a cell surface type 1 transmembrane protein involved in neuronal development, expression of which in adult tissues is almost exclusively limited to the central nervous system. Aberrant expression of SEZ6 has been associated with neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders including epilepsy, schizophrenia, and Alzheimer's disease. More recently, SEZ6 overexpression has been detected in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and other high-grade neuroendocrine malignancies, although our understanding of the function of SEZ6 as a driver of cancer is limited.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cell therapy is a type of cellular immunotherapy showing promising clinical effectiveness and high precision. CAR‑T cells express membrane receptors with high specificity, which enable them to identify certain target antigens generated by cancerous cells. The three primary structural elements of the CAR are the extracellular domain, transmembrane domain and cytoplasmic domain.

The plasma membrane is actively regulated by lipid transporters that create electrochemical gradients between leaflets, and passively by scramblases that dissipate these gradients. Membrane properties such as lipid packing are critical for the proper function of transmembrane proteins, particularly mechanosensitive ion channels. Mechanosensation is a key component of many sensory processes including balance, and hearing.
