Article Abstract

We have developed AMRViz, a toolkit for analyzing, visualizing, and managing bacterial genomics samples. The toolkit is bundled with the current best practice analysis pipeline allowing researchers to perform comprehensive analysis of a collection of samples directly from raw sequencing data with a single command line. The analysis results in a report showing the genome structure, genome annotations, antibiotic resistance and virulence profile for each sample. The pan-genome of all samples of the collection is analyzed to identify core- and accessory-genes. Phylogenies of the whole genome as well as all gene clusters are also generated. The toolkit provides a web-based visualization dashboard allowing researchers to interactively examine various aspects of the analysis results. Background: Alcohol use disorder (AUD) is conceptualized as a dimensional phenomenon in the DSM-5, but electronic health records (EHRs) rely on binary AUD definitions according to the ICD-10. The present study classifies AUD severity levels using EHR data and tests whether increasing AUD severity levels are linked with increased comorbidity.

Methods: Billing data from two German statutory health insurance companies in Hamburg included n = 21,954 adults diagnosed with alcohol-specific conditions between 2017 and 2021.

Background: Organotypic long-term cultivation of vascularized retina explants is a major challenge for application in drug development, drug screening, diagnostics and future personalized medicine. With this background, an assay and protocol for organotypic culture of vascularized retina explants in vitro with optimum tissue integrity preservation is developed and demonstrated.

Methods: Morphological, histologic and biochemical integrity as well as viability of vascularized retina explants are compared as function of cultivation time for differently structured nanotube scaffolds.

Innovative technology allows for personalization of stimulation frequency in dual-site deep brain stimulation (DBS), offering promise for challenging symptoms in advanced Parkinson's disease (PD), particularly freezing of gait (FoG). Early results suggest that combining standard subthalamic nucleus (STN) stimulation with substantia nigra pars reticulata (SNr) stimulation may improve FoG outcomes. Geographic and Policy Factors Influence Telehealth Availability for Substance Use Disorder Treatment.

Telehealth is increasingly a standard and routine clinical option, indicating a changing outlook for SUD treatment from in-person to the more convenient option of telehealth. As populations across geographies increasingly prefer telehealth, more research is warranted that focuses on how where a person lives is associated with telehealth availability. The authors used the Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Tracking Repository (MATTR 2024) to identify telehealth availability among all known licensed SUD treatment facilities in the USA (N = 10,492 facilities).
