Article Abstract

We offer a comprehensive depiction of the cytomorphological characteristics of lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia (LEGH) as observed in SurePath™ liquid-based cytology (LBC), subsequently confirmed on cone biopsy. Lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia (LEGH), a precursor to gastric-type adenocarcinoma (GAE) of the endocervix, is rare and reports of it in cervical cytology are scarce. We provide a thorough description of the cytomorphological features of LEGH observed in SurePath™ liquid-based cytology (LBC), later confirmed by cone biopsy. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report documenting cytology of LEGH in LBC of a Pap sample.

Commercial lithium-ion batteries using organic solvent-based liquid electrolytes (LEs) face safety issues, including risks of fire and explosion. As a safer alternative, solid-state electrolytes are being extensively explored to replace these organic solvent-based LEs. Among various solid electrolyte options, polymer electrolytes offer advantages such as flexibility and ease of processing.

Background: Manual wiping of surfaces, a primary method in preventing hospital acquired infections, can vary significantly in its ability to eliminate bacteria and prevent cross-contamination.

Methods: Four liquid-based cleaning and disinfecting formulations comprised of hydrogen peroxide (HP), ethoxylated alcohol (EA), quaternary ammonium compounds (Quat and Quat2), or a water-based control were evaluated for their bactericidal efficacy in combination with three different wiping materials: microfiber, polypropylene, and cotton. Each chemistry and wipe combination were evaluated for its ability to reduce microbial contamination on a hard, non-porous surface measuring one meter.

Can Gas Absorption be Tuned in a Multifunctional Ionic Liquid?

ChemSusChem

September 2025

Laboratoire de Chimie, ENS de Lyon and CNRS, Lyon, 69364, France.

The challenge of CO separation and management in biogas upgrading processes is addressed, which remains a critical bottleneck when considering biomethane as a competitive and sustainable alternative to natural gas. Ionic liquids offer a promising alternative to existing sorbents due to their negligible volatility and their tunable properties. Herein, a multifunctional phosphonium triazolate ionic liquid capable of reacting reversibly with CO without loss of fluidity through both cation and anion is presented.

Adjusting Chemical Hardness-Softness Balance of Electrolyte to Enable High-Voltage Reversible Fluoride Ion Batteries.

Fluoride ion batteries (FIBs), as a promising next-generation high-energy-density storage technology, have attracted significant attention. However, developing an ideal fluoride-ion electrolyte that suppresses the β-H abstraction (caused by strong Lewis-basicity F) and electrolyte decomposition remains challenging. To address this bottleneck, we design an electrolyte system based on commercial tetrabutylammonium fluoride (TBAF) salt and 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMImBF) ionic liquid solvent through anion-cation coordination engineering and hard-soft-acid-base (HSAB) balance modulation, unveiling its multiscale mechanisms for mitigating interfacial parasitic reaction and enhancing metal anode stability.
