Background: Epilepsy, the tendency to have recurrent seizures, can have various causes, including brain tumors, genetics, stroke, brain injury, infections, and developmental disorders. Epileptic seizures are usually transient events. They normally leave no trace after the postictal recovery period has passed.
Aims: An electroencephalogram (EEG) can only detect brain activity during the recording. It will be detected if an epileptogenic focus or generalized abnormality is active during the recording.
Objective: This work demonstrated a smart seizure detection system for Healthcare IoT, which is a challenging problem of EEG data analysis.
Method: The study suggested an integrated methodology in recognition of the drawbacks of manual identification and the significant negative effects of uncontrollable seizures on patients' lives.
Result: The research shows remarkable accuracy, up to 100% in some experiments, by combining classifier ensembles like Decision Trees, Logistic Regression, and Support Vector Machine with different signal processing techniques like Discrete Wavelet Transform, Hjorth Parameters, and statistical features. The results were compared using the kNN classifier, other datasets and other state-of-the-art techniques.
Conclusion: Healthcare IoT is further utilized by the methodology, which takes a comprehensive approach using classifier ensembles and signal processing approaches resulting in real-time data to help them make better decisions. This demonstrates how well the suggested method works for smart seizure detection, which is a crucial development for better patient outcomes.

Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) is a promising therapy for neurological and inflammatory disorders across multiple organ systems. However, conventional rigid interfaces fail to accommodate dynamic mechanical environments, leading to mechanical mismatches, tissue irritation, and unstable long-term interfaces. Although soft neural interfaces address these limitations, maintaining mechanical durability and stable electrical performance remains challenging.

Epilepsy is a complex and ancient neurological disorder affecting approximately 50 million individuals globally. Despite significant advancements in pharmacological treatments, surgical procedures, and neurostimulation techniques, a substantial subset of patients remains pharmacoresistant or experiences intolerable side effects, highlighting the need for novel, safe, and effective interventions. In this review, we examine a promising non-invasive technique known as the Exchange Breathing Method (EBM), developed through the observations of Gemma Herbertson, a British mother who discovered that exhaling gently into her son's nostrils could consistently interrupt ongoing seizures.

Background: Children with epilepsy are particularly vulnerable to stigma, inadequate management, and exclusion from educational opportunities, especially in low-resource school environments. Despite the high prevalence of epilepsy, current school-based educational interventions are often fragmented and lack a structured, evidence-informed framework. This study aimed to develop a competency-based epilepsy education curriculum for school teachers to enhance seizure identification, appropriate response, and inclusive classroom support.

Objective: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the anterior thalamic nucleus (ATN) and hippocampus is an emerging therapy for drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) when resective surgery is not feasible. We aimed to evaluate the long-term cognitive outcomes of these two DBS targets, hypothesizing that both interventions preserve cognitive function.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of DRE patients who underwent ATN-DBS (n = 12) or hippocampal DBS (n = 10) and completed comprehensive neuropsychological testing before surgery and after ≥18 months of stimulation.

Bilateral adrenal hemorrhage is a rare and serious complication that might affect patients with concomitant systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). However, this study presents a rare case of SLE without APS that developed bilateral adrenal hemorrhage, causing adrenal insufficiency and later complicated by lupus myocarditis, resulting in rapid deterioration and death. A 35-year-old female complained of generalized body aches associated with arthralgia, joint swelling, abdominal pain, and fatigue for 2 weeks duration.
