This study investigates the vertical profiles, pollution status and ecological risks of heavy metal(loid)s contamination in three sediment cores (N21, N03, and 38002) from the North Yellow Sea (NYS), with a focus on the influence of grain size effects on sedimentary profiles. The results revealed distinct vertical distribution patterns of heavy metal(loid)s content among the three sediment cores. Enrichment Factor (EF) and Geo-accumulation Index (I) assessments identified Sb as significantly enriched, indicating anthropogenic influence, whereas Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, and Zn primarily originated from natural weathering.

Importance: Exposure to inflammation from chorioamnionitis places the fetus at higher risk of premature birth and may increase the risk of neurodevelopmental impairments, though the evidence for the latter is mixed.
Objective: To evaluate whether moderate to severe histologic chorioamnionitis (HCA) is directly associated with adverse motor performance, independent of the indirect mediating effects of premature birth.

Background: Recent studies suggest that large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT are useful tools for medical students or residents when preparing for examinations. These studies, especially those conducted with multiple-choice questions, emphasize that the level of knowledge and response consistency of the LLMs are generally acceptable; however, further optimization is needed in areas such as case discussion, interpretation, and language proficiency. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the performance of six distinct LLMs for Turkish and English neurosurgery multiple-choice questions and assess their accuracy and consistency in a specialized medical context.

The likelihood ratio (LR) is a recommended metric for assessing the strength of genetic information in relationship testing, one of the most important tasks in forensic science. LR calculation incorporate population frequencies, which is affected by population substructure. View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) is a stable compound, which is an important indicator for diagnosing glycemia, evaluating blood glucose control in patients with diabetes, and guiding the formulation of treatment plans. However, the detection of HbA1c is easily affected by many factors, resulting in a false increase or decrease, which affects the accuracy of test results.
Methods: In this paper, two abnormal HbA1c results were detected in the laboratory, which did not match the blood glucose detected at the same time.
